@Beretta for us down in Melbourne, why would Wests want to take over APIA? And why would the APIA Board sell out? I’m assuming it’s West Tigers NRL team?
The “Wests club” is a club/group more broadly, it has an rsl style social club based in the inner west of Sydney. They own wests tigers but their goal is to broaden into a larger club/group of clubs with different sports under the “wests group” banner. Nrl, soccer, cricket, basketball. Somewhat in the way city group are acquiring clubs under the city group banner or maybe the red bull sports group on a smaller scale is a more apt comparison given the multi sport dimension to it. Raciti obviously sees it as an opportunity to secure financial backing, “wests” obviously see it as an opportunity to expand their empire/portfolio.

Each to their own but I’m sure other traditional clubs are happy that this isn’t happening to them. It’ll help the finances but it’ll no doubt dilute the clubs identity

on track for half of the foundation clubs getting knocked out

will be even more interested in how many non nsw/vic clubs make it, as those are the clubs that are really auditioning and the nst depends on their strength in the current political climate
Yeah, still a few turns to go before we can call curtians on them though... syd utd and Olympic looking the ones actually in trouble.

Yea not shocking, both clubs were mid table in the state league and did no where near enough to improve in time for this. Infact in United’s case they’ve gone backwards. Not good enough from both clubs imo. Unacceptable

Well done croatia. Outplayed us in the second half. Thought overall they were the better team.

Spewing i didnt end up going yesterday, i had it in my head this will be an easy Preston Win. one hammering for the week is enough for me.

it was a good game to watch, and a great crowd.

Wests want to become like a powerhouse in all sporting codes. Yeh, they own Tigers in NRL.

Wests started in Ashfield, (down the road from APIA) and have clubs all around Sydney, they've been sponsoring APIA for years now.

As the APIA Fan said, they've bought into 20% of the club, what happens in the future is yet to be seen.

Correct, i rather be relegated then sold out.

I know the crowd attendances always is hot topic, and seemingly the only thing that matters not in just the Championship but Australian football. This is a problem within, Us v Them mentality.

I wish the football did more of the talking, some cracking goals again over the weekend. That one from South Melbourne was class.

9k at wanderers today. to me that shows that all these clubs can coexist relatively comfortably
It definitely can but it all depends if there is a plan on the burning pocket year after year.

Wait until NSW Police start getting raptor out in any game above 5,000 attendance, the bill ends up being the ticket gate lol

Wests started in Ashfield, (down the road from APIA)
The formation of APIA in the 50's was actually a merger between whatever West's were and whatever APIA were at the time.

Perhaps APIA have aspirations of being as shit as West Tigers are, lot of good the "Wests" did for them.

I saw nothing special from Apia. Syd Cro were just fucken shit....
Playing catch up fellas been a busy weekend........

It was a enjoyable Friday evening for us APIA supporters that originally I didn't know what to expect but no doubt we would do ok.
We arrived noticing the crowd was healthy made me feel good inside considering the weather change.
Noticed lots of APIA merch was selling up - bought a retro tracky top :) can't say I'm all for the wests change but got to accept moving forward, times change, TR and the rest have gone down the path, money makes the world go round now more than ever.

Kudos to fellow SU support - I felt sorry for them long before the 1st half having to be assigned over the western side but happy they arrived in numbers.
In fact their early chanting was good to hear considering being outnumbered and as mentioned of the OTT secos/cops and riot squad outside.
You got to think WTF FA - you pack of bastards doing this to one of our fellow Clubs.
I get it for any game hosting 20K up but frigging 4K you have got to be kidding me and the associated forced costs.
Fark you seriously - sorry to swear.
I don't blame how your feeling Beretta and the rest of the supporters.

S W - not sure what you watched 1st half but apart from both teams settling in later APIA were playing some nice tight 1/2's and looking pretty good, poor SU well we know why they were "shit" - 7/8 player changes you can't expect anymore from them and as Beretta has mentioned, hardly had pre runs let alone all the other background issues, real shame ! :(
Got to say some of the build up play was pretty smooth for some goals, build up play leading to the 1stgoal and turn/finish was top shelf - game was done by HT nothing more special needed occur the whole 2nd by APIA, it was back off manage the game.
My sons and mates incl me had a top Friday evening, Leichardt is a good football venue, none of us or others complain about it - your there to watch whats on the pitch.

Interesting results through the following games and great seeing some good support - we don't need records just bung on the football NPL, your showing its pretty good overall for semi pro's.
