A league round 7

I haven't watch auckland - are they any good or just gotten favourable draw?

Adelaide are the interesting one. They are undefeated and have a game in hand. A win against CCM next week will put them on equal games with MV as well as put them clear second. They have the second best attacking record in the league, but defensively they need a bit of work. That being said they haven't faced any of the in-form clubs yet this season, so the next 9 weeks could be tough, especially in January when they face Nix, MV and Auckland in consecutive weeks, who currently are the top 3 defensive sides in the comp. AU confidence would be high at the moment which can make a big difference, hard to say how far it will carry them though.
They have a game in hand against 4 clubs - same as 8 other clubs. They have had draws against teams in 7th and 12th and wins against 9th, 10th, 11th and 13th. I've not seen anything to say that they will be there at the end of the season. Having not played against any of the top 6 you would expect them to have a decent attacking record - which they do. But In spite of who they have played, 6 teams have better defensive records

They are definitely good, but they are not unbeatable. They've only conceded 1 goal this season, so their defence is undeniable. However they are not punishing other clubs, and are yet to score more than 2 goals in a game. They've had a bit of a good draw. Nix games are obviously the toughest, but they also only managed to put one past SFC. Real test will be Jan 1st when the face MV.

You've got to be joking
Nup....no mates is absolutely spot on.

Brisbane roar are a complete abortion. An embarrassment to the A League and the game in Australia.

This big pile of orangymaroon wank should have their franchise licence revoked and excommunicated from the game.

I mean If Brisbane Roar were your dog you're going to the vets to have it put down....

Rename them Hollandia and get them to play at Lions Stadium.
The Club that historically emerged from Brisbane Hollandia are already playing at Lions Stadium.

Lions FC....

They won the Queensland NPL last season.

The A League franchise known as Brisbane Roar aren't fit to be in the mentioned in same sentence as Lions FC....

I dont get it why Roar are in the state they're in. Brisbane seems to have everything going for it for an A=League team. Suncorp is a fantastic stadium close & walkable to the city centre, the match day/night experience is awesome with the bars and cafe;s right next door in Caxton street. There's the large metro population including Gold Coast & Sunshine Coast linked by train, Roma street station transport access nearby. Maybe make roar more relatable by reverting back to Queensland Roar and ditching the Orange for maroon??. I don't know.

The name and colours aren't the issues. It all stems from the ownership/management going back 10 years or more. This has resulted in no permanent training base, financial mismanagement which doesn't help with the perception of the organisation in the media and elsewhere (not paying bills), poor recruitment of coaches and players, an academy system that was trashed and abandoned leading to lack of talent coming through and an inability to identify talent, lack of marketing effort to connect with the community and try to build followers and crowds, and I'm sure other issues.

A clear example of how not to run a sporting organisation.

What happens with Hollandia's historical records? I know that Roar are allowed to claim it now. But can the Lions as well? If it were a split I can't see why not.

Suncorp Stadium is part of the problem. Too big for the tiny crowds

The Lions FC is the Queensland Lions Club and without doubt the natural recipient of the historical records. This Brisbane Roar thing isn't a football club, it's a shitty plastic franchise....

this show is surprisingly decent

viewership looks abysmal though. Hope it isnt costing the a league too much

Might be a nothing burger
Will the drama never end for A-League basement dwellers Perth Glory? Not only has the club failed to register a win in two months, but now the tax office is trying to appoint liquidators to the struggling club.

Except that Glory’s management aren’t aware of any dispute with the ATO – and the first time they heard about the affair was when they were contacted by an insolvency firm and asked if they needed any help. Which they didn’t think they did.

The ATO filed legal action last week against Perth Glory’s new owners, Perth Glory Football Pty Ltd – owned by Melbourne-based property developer Ross Pelligra – seeking wind-up orders and the appointment of liquidators.

That’s not how it was supposed to go for Glory. Pelligra took control of the club in February for $1, in theory ending years of turmoil under former owner Tony Sage – and after the A-League had pumped in an estimated $11m to keep the WA club afloat after Sage handed back his licence to run the club.

Given the legal action has been taken against Pelligra’s company, founded in January to take control of the club, it seems unlikely the ATO’s action relates to any of the club’s long-running financial troubles.

So what gives? It’s not entirely clear. The ATO declined to comment, and the Federal Court is yet to release the tax office’s legal filings to Margin Call. Glory hasn’t been served with the claim yet, so they don’t know either.

But long-term Glory director Jason Bontempo told us he’s sure it’s all a mistake. The first time Glory’s management heard about the legal action was through a phone call from an insolvency firm trying to drum up a bit of business after spotting the court filings.

Bontempo said the club was confident it was an administrative error – perhaps the ATO was sending correspondence to Perth Glory Football’s registered corporate address in suburban Melbourne, rather than to the accounts department in Perth.

Glory, like the rest of the league, is facing difficult times after the A-League slashed $17m from its distribution to clubs this year after breezing through the $140m raised from global private equity giant Silver Lake three years ago.

But Bontempo assured Margin Call that Glory was not in any financial trouble

The news made for a difficult day for Pelligra, who flew back in from an overseas trip this morning to a flurry of phone calls about the issue.

Pelligra told Margin Call he was as mystified as everybody else, saying he’d sort out the trouble with the ATO just as soon as he worked out what it was.
