Maybe thats what CFG wants though, to postpone any chance of pro/rel for another 2-3 decades? There's the problem.
If the clubs can't manage and the whole thing falls flat what happens then. Back to the status quo for the clubs. They won't mind - they gave it a shot.
The FA can't look at it that way - if it is not done properly they will have cruelled the pitch for another couple of decades.
Absolutely... but here is the kicker, invest it where?Fed Gov also major problem.
The amount of funding we recieve, compared to other sports, is beyond disgraceful.
I don't think they realise if they actually invested in this sport, the country would be in a better place. Or they just protecting the egg ball sports.
well that would be the big ? if the FA did get some really decent funding where would they invest it ????Absolutely... but here is the kicker, invest it where?

In Australia? About five times as much as it should. How much does a 10k stadium cost to build this days?
A modular stadium - with site costs etc would approach $45m plus land. Traditional methods - double that.We always complain about head office, yet when new people get it in, its the same shit over and over, rinse and repeat.
Honestly believe funding is not the sole reason, but the by far the most significant issue by a coutry mile.

We have numerous suburban grounds, all they theoretically need are face lifts and seating/grandstands. why cant we utilize those??A modular stadium - with site costs etc would approach $45m plus land. Traditional methods - double that.
agree but the APL dawners see these grounds are beneath them generally speaking. We have numerous suburban grounds, all they theoretically need are face lifts and seating/grandstands. why cant we utilize those??
Probably almost cheaper to demoilition and build from scratch rather a few renovations here and there these days.We have numerous suburban grounds, all they theoretically need are face lifts and seating/grandstands. why cant we utilize those??
Tasmania AFL stadium with 20k seating going to cost $1billion +A modular stadium - with site costs etc would approach $45m plus land. Traditional methods - double that.

They have got spoilt being in half empty large stads - at least they have little ques to get their over priced deep fried crap food and beers starting at $9 to $13.50 @ SFS ooops Allianz.
Many NPL's have sufficient grounds - some needing general updating/more seat cover/lighting and refurnished toilets but overall I'm not there due to the ground whereas others expect 1st class.
Agreed for some grounds it is, for sure!Probably almost cheaper to demoilition and build from scratch rather a few renovations here and there these days.
Old doesnt mean not suitable though... unless the goal remains to give them an afl type experience.. we dont want to go that path. We want close engagement with the fans.. lakeside now vs middle park/lakeside it would always be the latter for the best footballing experience even though its pretier more pleasent on the eye now !Majority of these grounds are 30+ years old, they are just too old unfortunately.
Similar to Liechardt with the NRL, its' too old.
Similiar to the old Allianz, was too old, so they demolish and rebuild.
Similiar to Subiaco Oval, was too old, demolished and built new stadium.
biggie look what going on mateMajority of these grounds are 30+ years old, they are just too old unfortunately.

Allianz as pre SFS was fine tbh imo, it was a politcal game to enhance voters promising more new contracts etcetc, the refurbish became a debacle, 1st contractor screwed up, costed the tax payers heaps then Gov assigned another to re do, was a utter joke, point is it could have been left alone despite its minor shortfalls not to modern day saftey requirements FYI.Similiar to the old Allianz, was too old, so they demolish and rebuild.
well got to be got to be.Similiar to Subiaco Oval, was too old, demolished and built new stadium.

AFL is a league NOT a federation mate.... Their infrastructure is ONLY for the 18 AFL clubs to use... Auskick is a marketing ploy to keep the plebs happy... FA should be helping grassrooots more than the APL side of town.Where does AFL money go? Auskick + infrastructure?
How Epping is left to rot is criminal.Agreed for some grounds it is, for sure!
But it reqlly is dependent on the existing ground! Here in Vic there are so many that need just lights upgrade and or a second stand like Olympic village (they could use basic upgrade on exisitnng stand also) but all else is in place or Coopers St mainly just construction of a second stand or smaller ones behind goals, home of the matildas the same so on and so forth! These cover the corwds and overheads are kept to minimum.
Smart feds wouldve pumped money into strategically based grounds around the metro areas and have funded upgrades from decades ago rather than flock to multi purpose stadiums, but thats more to do with their complexes and pressumed status than about the football itself as we know!
Absolutely. The APL fought for independence and got it. FA's only concern should be that a professional base survives - whether that long term is the APL or another incarnation like a fully developed Australian Championship. The FA owes much more to the grassroots.AFL is a league NOT a federation mate.... Their infrastructure is ONLY for the 18 AFL clubs to use... Auskick is a marketing ploy to keep the plebs happy...
