The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

More than any home attendance they have had this season :D

Reality is, apart from a few Victorian clubs, the rest are NPL clubs for a reason.
Mate, after watching South Hobart and Olympic last night, I just don't believe that.... Even Western Bears against the Bergers brought down a few fans.... there is infinite scope to grow... there just isn't a reason or ability to... what is the REAL fear (apart from Aleague losing customers)?

fair enough, but if these clubs are responding to RFPs knowing they dont meet the criteria they are stupid .... I honestly don't believe this is the case.
Again - it depends on the relationship between the club and the FA. I would think they both (let's take South Hobart as an example) want them to get over the line. Do South Hobart communicate only via the RFP? Or do they communicate in a less formal way as well.

i.e. South Hobart want to be in but aren't sure (or know) they can't meet all criteria. They tell the FA as much. At that stage there are two options - submit or not. The FA may well have told them to submit it so that they can review the RFP, point out problems and work with them to overcome them. Or conversely South Hobart were stupid.

I honestly don't know..... I think the lights are on at FA but nobody is home... My personal belief is that they farmed the financial submission out to a consultancy firm who just red penend the whole deal even though FA would have been making promising overtures to these 8 x clubs.... it all stinks to high heaven of incompetence to me, thats the worry.. I mean, really, the only reason this champions lage style shits and giggle end of season trounament is even going ahead is because the 8 x foundation clubs ahd a signed agreement for a NSD of some sort and have recruited sponsors based on it... Im guessing why its ALSO been promised for the following year as well....

Ive said it before, and Ill say it again I believe that the FA will wait for a few months for the furore to die down and then announce a women's Australia Cup... to line up with Womens Asia Cup (just my opinion, no basis on any conversation or info I have)

the quality in something, such as an excuse or a lie, that allows somebody to see the truth easily

Is there anyone in the media asking FA the real questions?

I don’t think I used the example of A League clubs when I said that the Championship has to be sustainable from the word go.
Its not aimed at you specifically but at the new prevailing thought that somehow the new semi pro league needs to reach benchmarks even the aleague isnt held by!

We do all agree that we want sustainability but in a realistic setting is what we are arguing and above all with transperency!

There is no fear, I want more clubs. Any other WA football fan with knowledge of the local scene will tell you the same.

Sorrento played a team from Canberra a couple years ago, from memory crowd was 200 at best.

Armadale played a team from Adelaide, again 200 at most.

There was a crowd yesterday because it was an a-league team + an event.

Way too much delusion rather than realism.

These clubs have literally have no support apart from mums and dads and a couple of ex-players who stick around.

First things first, we need to get the infrastructure right, this is what Japan and Korea did well.

What does introducing a womens Australia Cup have to do with the NST?

You may be right - but.

The FA submitted to the Federal government an overarching submission for football (after constantly being told to have a whole of football submission - not ad hoc request) The Australian Championship was certainly not a footnote in the submission or being hidden. The furore started almost immediately after that, primarily it seems from the Melbourne football media.

It makes no sense for the FA to undermine its own submission - it makes more sense that Football Victoria or people connected to it are afraid of weakening their NPL.

Oh crap .... I hadn't thought of that..... could be something to it.....

I would suggest that FA needs to consider what is best for the football in Australia, a club only needs to consider what is best for them.
there doesn't seem to be any disagreement with what Roger Noll said

"100 economists in the room 100 opinions"

Well 2 opinions really, economists got this reputation because there are issues where it is tough to get consensus because of the complexity of the system and insufficient evidence (counter cyclic monetary and fiscal policy for example) there are a lot of areas where there is broad consensus
