The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

Tin foil hat time.
Could the most recent press release from FA be a bit of deliberate self sabotage?
Think about it. If they had literally said nothing, you might still be frustrated, but you'd probably be more enthusiastic about this year's competition as you'd still have more hope that something bigger and better was just around the corner.
Kicking the can further down the road has definitely left the rusted-ons pretty deflated. This may result in lower crowds/viewers then what could have otherwise been. I hope that's not the case, and the fans get behind their clubs in massive numbers, but it's also understandable that it'd have an effect.
I very much believe it was, at best, misguided self sabotage.. At worst, a deliberate attempt at ensuring this thing fails to launch as it has the potential to... It must be even more frustrating for football fans in QLD, ACT, TAS, SA and WA who would be looking at all this carry on and wondering when/if they will ever get a chance.... who knows what the next 2-3 years will bring but it seems to be radio silence from clubs AND FA at the moment...

Given that we have this format for two years then the time to really worry is this time next year. If there are not 12-14 clubs ready to go in a years time the whole thing will never get off the ground properly. The FA, the associations, the respective state governments and the clubs themselves have a year to add to the Foundation clubs.

if that doesn't work then I'm afraid that we will continue with the current level that we are about to embark on or we will end up with a quasi-championship of NSW and Vic clubs only.

Thats why, as dismissive as I was originally about the idea, I don't blame South for wanting to compete in the Oceania Championship Super league abomination.... There don't appear to be any other avenues open to us to "better ourselves" or compete at a higher level .... The Australia Cup is great, and a couple of Semi final appearances isnt too shabby but its NOT enough....

I still don't understand how every governing body is trying to screwover South Hobart for some shitty AFLesque Tasmania club that will never exist
At least FQ, FFSA, CF and the rest have the excuse of just being retarded

Could be because a certain gentleman, perennial state football federation nomad and previous Wellington CEO has been "sent" down to Tasmania with the promise of having an Aleague franchise license to market with the mandate that he cannot allow anything involving real football clubs to get in his way.....? Just a theory... lol

Im still a little apprehensive... being so close to kickoff and still no further to establishing a "proper" league despite all the promises of the past 2-3 years has left me a bit flat....
I get that and have also felt same, but then i figured it really is in our hands to leave all those opposed without a foot to stand on, we should be putting all our efforts into getting the crowds to whatever format they throw at us they want this crap so be it, we rock up!
Then there is absolutely no excuse not to get the h&a!
we need Proactive aggression now!

I got my heritage Hellas top in the mail yesterday ILL be there :P... hahahahaha

Is it just whoever finishes 1st at the end of the season who gets into that league? Or is it also who ends up winning the grand final?

I've thought about similar, relegating 8 and promoting 8 to always have a representative from each federation. But doing it with 16 teams is too brutal haha. I thought anything from 23 to 31 teams would be ok and only playing each other once. I think @Monoethnic Social Club might have compared it to a wrestling comp haha. But then, having 11 to 15 matches per weekend is just too damn expensive.

As much as I'd love to have leagues splitting evenly all the way down the pyramid, it really does seem that a group stage format between the NPLs is the most cost effective way of promotion to NST, and it's still fair as well. I'd have the first competition with the top two from each fed, and every season after that based on performance coefficients.

Also, we can't make playoffs between tiers possible with a connected pyramid because the top three tiers would need to be played all at different times of year, so they finish at different times. This is assuming A-League stays with the mostly global calendar (which they will), and the federations stay in winter (which they will).
Very similar to my post in P&R thread

I'd like to find a way to expand the CL to be slightly longer if it eventually becomes a path to the nst. Maybe 4 groups of 6 would be ideal
