Did he get the sack or resign?Japan likely to be going for a full coaching overhaul after Leah Blayney was also given her marching orders a couple of days after Nils Nielsen got the sack.

Not sure whether Nils Nielsen was given the sack or resigned but he and Leah Blayney both fell out of contract at the conclusion of the Women's Asian Cup and subsequently left the Japanese federation.Did he get the sack or resign?
I think they mean the World Cup.True their contracts were not renewed, which is quite surprising considering the Asia Cup win. The Japanese FA said there was a perceived “lack of passion”, a “lax coaching style”, and “cultural differences”. “Officials felt his approach didn’t meet the high standards necessary to win major, long-term, international tournaments” which may be a translation error. They possibly meant “standards necessary to win major international tournaments in the long term”?
