Popa has shown he is open minded. Given his club career, I'm surprised Elder has not had more caps?

He's had a niggle pretty much every window for years. Otherwise it was Gersbach, Smith, Meredith, Davidson who got a go but then Elder was fit for maybe 5 windows in 7 years. Behich, Rowles and Bos were preferred by Arnold. King was there too. Wild to think King went to the World cup.

yes JS 1st game is 1pm koff our time.

2nd game Midday koff on the 18th.

I'm excited were finally playing some new opposition who play so diff what were used to and yep its a lottery but great hitouts.

Venezuala played a 2nd Argie team 11 Oct down 1 nil.
Funnily got smashed by Columbia at home back in Sept 6-3.
Columbia
vs Canada 15 Oct 0-0.
vs Mexico 12 Oct 4nil win ! who knows what the Mex line up was.
 
Our depth is worrying.

Would love to see Nish come back and put in a solid six months.

Was close to our best when he played

Good to see lots of players getting a shot to prove themselves.

Hope Goodwin can keep his national team form

yer their history isn't great, the political unrest for so so long sure wouldn't help getting ahead but they are better - good luck to them hopefully next time they break through.

tsf, quality of the depth eh.
He's using heaps and giving them a go which is good but yer, quality is the key on the bench when were at the big show.
Thats what I'm worried about come the WC, say we cop a couple of injuries to key players, will we have experienced enough bench and depending the position.
Anyway all guess work for now.
 
Poppa has really risen to the occasion of being the National Head Coach. I am expecting to get out of our group and progress further than we have in prior WC's. Prediction for the Asian Cup is finalists and I am hoping for the win. Can't take it for granted, though.

These games will be happy with a win and a draw. Columbia look a very decent side.

I actually being realistic think we can beat Venezuela but doubt Colombia. Also the squad is changed once again from the games against Canada and USA. Also if the Socceroo's are good enough on the day it wont matter what pot there in. Sth Africa will be in pot 4 so i doubt there will be any easy games cum World Cup.

I read that Venezuela is playing a lot of new guys unlike Colombia who will be fielding there full strength team, I guess we will all have to wait and see cum game day.
 
No replacement for Juric coming in.
