If Okon was working behind the scenes on Volpato why wasn't Jedinak doing the same for Segecic in England?

Mile Jedinak officially became a Socceroos assistant coach on 20 January 2026.
Adrian Segecic officially switched his international football allegiance to Croatia on 13 March 2026. That is a period of 52 days.

The change of allegiance process typically takes between 21 - 42 days.

Had Okon talked to Segecic beforehand or does he not travel outside Italy? It's likely Segecic was well towards a change before Jedinak was even appointed.

Allegedly the fa didnt, at least no where near as often as croatia did. But yes its good worm with volpato

Here is all you need to know. Segecic filled out forms and applied to switch to Croatia. It took some action on his part to make the switch. That means he made his choice and preferred to play for Croatia. Good luck to him. Volpato had to take the opposite action. He also made a choice. Good luck to him as well.

I personally think this was the big one (Volpato) of the dual internationals, we don't have too many players who could play anywhere along the frontline as well as no 8 or No 10.

Well he signed the paperwork. I've no idea what contemplation or thought went into his decision, I only know it's four years since he was first invited to do so to the point where he did. He may at some point decide he doesn't want to play International football anymore, but if he does it will be for us.

He’s above any of ours the last number of years.
It no matter how when why some is questioning - wgaf it’s done dusted he’s in the shirt.

Sege Traintis picked theirs Volpato made his call - yep if Italy selected for future he may have gone but it didn’t happen.

No - I just thought it was silly to blame Jedinak. Okon and the FA may be doing a good job keeping in contact with dual nationals but from all reports Rene did an exemplary job for Arnie and has the European (not Australian) gravitas to talk to any club / agent or family.
