First he said, the “franchises don’t care about football”, then agreed that’s the same in European football, and that his beloved club Smellas also only care about themselves. You claim you are no different to liverpool and its owners (were to start on that really?) or real madrid (depite ther being no private ownership model there) which is nothing like the franchise system and fully like the traditional clubs but chastise the same model for the traditional clubs... you muppets have actually reached new heights of dillusion or are smoking some out of date shit!

I think its because the franchsies really DON'T care about what is best for football in Australia.. Strange because everyone keeps telling me that they DO

So A-League franchsies not doing anything different to all other top tier countries around the world.
It just came across as a criticism of the franchsies in your original note.

Mate..... Im really not being as controversial as you seem to think I am.. Ask the average English lower tier football fan and they will echo my sentiments exactly... Or ask anyone in Portugal that isnt a fan of the big three for example.... they will tell you the same thing... Big football is big business and Sutho is right, the EPL led the way although a few continental clubs like Real and Barca were doing it before then... its why the push for a Euro Superleague will sadly one day probably succeed.

Lots of young kids running around in those clubs looking at that & thinking I'd like to do that. So I wasn't saying it, it was Mono.

Lots of young kids running around in those clubs looking at that & thinking I'd like to do that. So I wasn't saying it, it was Mono.
I was just asking what is so different with Franchisees to the Liverpool's & Real Madrid?

To understand your point mate, those 6 players from your association are now playing for Sydney FC is that right? Can I ask, as I really don't know, those pictures of them running around in their junior days where from their original clubs or was it something that Sydney FC published to show support for the community clubs around them?

My social media network is Sydney FC (as you can imagine, it's my team), Manly Warringah Association (in NSW NPL) & the local clubs.
So yes I saw the photos coming thru all the platforms, SFC, MWFA & the clubs.

If Sydney FC posted a picture of one of their players in a Manly jersey or whatever the other club was and acknowledged that other club as developing that player then kudos from me... that is indeed well done and credit where it is due.

I think this is something the clubs (A-League) needs to do more of, because as you mentioned they are a brand, not only do they acknowledge the local club for developing the players, but also helps promote the club for jersey sales & attendances.

Nothing wrong with that... but its counterproductive when one handnis throwing a bone and your other hand is looking to kill off all chance at competition!

The only similarity is regarding self interest... franchise models here cant even be compared to US model! Here they follow like 'little puppy dogs' the major codes and try to emulate that in every way thinking it will miraculously work (despite all proof pointing to the contrary for decades now) yet APL and ghe new dawners here continuing to try sell it to us as some holy grail which fixed the game even when it clearly fails!

But for we are the bitter ones!

I haven't been involved in this conversation yet. I do remember when the ALM started in August and there was a decent overlap with grassroots football. Each of the local clubs had an player ambassador (still do) but more importantly they would run a training night or two for the local clubs. All players and coaches were involved. After the ALM games the players would stick around for ages (i.e. over an hour when the security were pushing to get people out of the stadium).

I had a SFC friend come and watch a match and he was absolutely amazed at how much time the players gave to the kids. Later when Arnold was in charge he frowned on it but I still remember Maty Ryan getting yelled at by Arnold as he was around half around the field after about 40 minutes.

I think the connection to community can come from grassroots, NPL and ALM clubs. I suspect the SFC against Wrexham photos were put out originally by Manly but I did see some newspaper coverage of the SFC team using them and they certainly did credit Manly with their development and progress.

So many simple things that if with slightest thought couldve/shouldve been done differently and wouldve helped the game!

Although i agree with you in pronciple when it started id argue that its too late for that now! If the championship sides are smart they will fill that void as a means of promotion.
