Australian news and politics.

wasn't the labour government recently exposed surpassing the 185,000 number that they are telling the public?!

Does your data include people leaving permanently? (IE Emigration from Australia.)

Mono is that one that bought up that comparison, which is stupid, you cant compare 50s to today's day and age, an under developed Australia to an over populated crisis at the moment.

if you wanna bring 1500 a day in, sure do it, but house them in alice springs.

You're the one saying 1500 a day is too many when the stats you dropped in showed, percentage of arrivals to population, exceeded that now.

Sort your story out.

FWIW I think, and said as much elsewhere here, they need to manage it better.

Why is it stupid?.... Migrants arriving in the post war period were housed in Bonnegilla and other migrant settlement camps, despite the locals grumbling they didn't kick us out.... a population and housing boom followed and now, 70 years later we are still talking about "fuck off were full" because a bunch of dumb crunts think eugenics and racial purity will save Australia's economy?

We have alot of economic problems in this country, alot of people are being left behind and ALOT more are wrongly directing their anger.... You want someone to blame for low wages and high housing costs?.... Look to the Capitalist arseholes that control the finance mate.... NOT Joe Blow from India that wants to come here and raise his kids like my folks (and I presume your folks) did FFS.

you are a dumb cunt if you think the march on the weekend was about race.

do you live in sydney? No
do you see how bad the infrastructure is?
the traffic across all of sydney, a 30min trip takes on average 1.30hr now.
where are we putting all these new immigrants?
Bulldoze more land 1.30hr away from sydney CBD and pay 1.6mill for a 300sq block? Because there is no land closer.

i go back to my original statement, bringing in more of them aint going to solve shit..

why should i care about Ravi from india when we cant look after our own. Fuck them, and fuck your hellas.

By the by did you know you can look up immigrant ID cards from Bonegilla?

I found my mum and dad there as well as a bunch of other rellos.

Search here. https://idcards.bonegilla.org.au/

You have a point but then you have to ask yourself who's going to pick fruit, work in aged care, work in childcare, work in cafes or restaurants or bars or do nursing because if you turned the tap off tomorrow then we'd be well and truly fucked.

Had the pleasant experience of visiting my aunty in aged care recently. 90% of the people working there are fresh off the boat.

Same as in any hospital.

And the reason for that is plain and simple no 'Australian' wants to do that work at that money.

So before you spout off about too many 'cunts' please explain who you will get to work in these jobs locals don't want to do.

I'll wait.

Yoohoo!

Seeing this basement dwelling incel spastics who now think they're alphas going on about this shit reminds me of this

6 months visas, ship them in, ship them out, but no permanent residency lol

In aged care facilities and hospitals? You're having fresh off the boat workers come in for 6 months?

Don't you still have to house them? (Not to mention train them.)

Take your time.

That's the thing with solutions. They're quite a bit harder to elucidate than just rant ignorant rubbish.

Then I must have misunderstood that idiot smearing vegemite across his face and the other guys wearing "made in Taiwan" black t shirts and proudly declaring to the nation (and ther emplyers if they ever have them) they are racists and national socialist and this mornings "Hail Australia" in a kiwi accent no less.... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: fucken muppets.

Don't worry, I dont think I would ever dare accuse you of showing compassion to another human being, I get the tough guy, dog eat dog persona you are going for.... And No I dont live in Sydney but our problems around infrastructure down here are just the same. If you are in the construction game and you are telling me that labour shortage isnt a real thing up there then I am really surprised... it is down here....

BTW Fuck you and your Nazi Cosplay club too. hahahahahaha

My question is at what point in history was aged care, which should be a career, an economically viable one? If ever? I guess a lot of families cared way back in the day and people died younger and quicker.

The other jobs listed are certainly ones that can be done for a temporary stage of life and are less likely to be careers.

A lot of these jobs have been done by migrants for the last 100 years. Not entirely though. The issue is the use of migrants still compresses wages in these roles. It's a race to the bottom. Some don't have the mindset or understanding to change into a profession which is why we see fast food careers in the USA.

People conveniently go on how the Swedish financial analyst is an excellent contributor to the economy but ignore how is some communities, a handy wage earner job, has been undermined by the influx of cheaper workers.

It'll always happen. It went from Southern Europeans to Eastern Europeans to South Asians especially in Australia and the UK. Euro has gone similarly but for now the massive influx of Arabs and Ukrainians. Each group undermining the next.

We can't blame the worker though. Is it the nature of business to seek out the cheaper labour? Probably? Definitely? Yet migration protections and policies should be put in place where perhaps young local workers can get a footing. Hopefully in turn this will encourage them to seek out a viable career.

What we've got now is an oversupply of foreign talent that just end up as Uber drivers. Some have the knack but a lot turn up to a company for an interview and despite having a degree, they're just so far off.

Just because the immigration lawyers are too good at finding loopholes and the Dept of Immigration is lax in veting migrants, doesnt mean the taps need to be turned off...

The lack of regulation and severly underpaid employment and training of aged care and healthcare industry is a bit of a different topic altogether I feel...
The ad hoc band aid shit across the west for things like aged care just pisses me off.

We need to take a war or army stance on it. Create an army of aged care workers and auxiliaries. Of course rebalance and try to pay them a bit more. There'll surely be a multiplier effect from it.

Too many people studying and not enough using their hands.

Certainly something of a rebalancing or aiming for policies to have more organic growth would be better. More local births will set up well for the next generation cycles.

I wonder if any countries are doing this week nowadays?

Sure they're working but we've entered some utopia now where every shopping street is just full of foreign gig economy workers with no protections while plenty of others just wander around all day. Maybe they have night jobs. Who am I to judge? I certainly observe there are simply a lot of people who aren't local just hanging around. How they afford any type of housing is baffling. Perhaps a lot have rich bankrollers back home.

This is where economic involvement studies come in. Locals included of course they come up with astronomical numbers of people not being involved. By no means is that the key to a meaningful life but it's certainly a good part of it.

Picking out a small minority of idiots, 0.01% of the people that were at the protest, and then painting everyone else with that same brush that was there. well done.

There is a difference between skilled tradesmen and unskilled labour. We need tradesmen and not labourers.

Well, Iv always thought, if you lay down with dogs you wake up with fleas. I wouldn't be caught dead at one of those marches (I don't think Im white enough judging by the images) but if the people making most of the noise and monopolising the narrative were NOT a true reflection of the marches intentions then why didnt anyone kick them out..

Surely all those Australian flags, including the upside down ones, or the hundreds of red Sovereign citizen flags with the slightly different federation star (because they dont believe in Federation thats against the US constitution which they follow apparently) could have bandied toegther to kick out the 0.01% of Nazis? Surely all the strapping young white Aussies with the Southern Cross tattoos and the Super Cheap Autos blow up merch... couldn't they get their point across with out appeasing the Nazis?

What was their point btw... "Assimilate with Austaliana" or get out? Only Oi Oi Oi is acceptable in this country?

Can’t Thomas Sewell be deported?

The Minister for Home Affairs has the legal authority under the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 to revoke his citizenship in certain cases especially if he:

1. Was convicted of a serious offence (e.g. sentenced to 12+ months imprisonment)

2. Misrepresented facts during their citizenship application

3. Engaged in terrorism-related conduct

And with The High Court Precedents:

In Jones v Commonwealth of Australia [2023] HCA 34, the High Court upheld the minister’s power to revoke citizenship of someone convicted of serious offences, even decades after they became a citizen.

How many citizenships have been revoked in Australia?

Since the passing of the Australian Citizenship Act 2007, to 31 December 2021, a total of 59 citizens have had their Australian citizenship revoked – 58 under the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 and one under the Citizenship Act 1948.
