1. Was convicted of a serious offence (e.g. sentenced to 12+ months imprisonment)
2. Misrepresented facts during their citizenship application
3. Engaged in terrorism-related conduct

Jones v Commonwealth of Australia [2023] HCA 34, the High Court upheld the minister’s power to revoke citizenship of someone convicted of serious offences, even decades after they became a citizen.
How many citizenships have been revoked in Australia?
Since the passing of the Australian Citizenship Act 2007, to 31 December 2021, a total of
59 citizens have had their Australian citizenship revoked – 58 under the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 and one under the Citizenship Act 1948.
