A-League transfer news/rumours

Is he still open to representing Serbia?
It’s a tricky one because if it had not been for the absolute clusterf*** known as the Serbian FA, we may not be able to discuss if he is open to Serbia, Australia or both even still lol.

I don’t think it’s any secret that Luka’s dad Srdan (played for Partizan) wants his son to play for the old country and Luka was also leaning that way until a huge faux pass by the SFA

Jovanovics family were contacted via phone by an employee from the SFA roughly 18 months ago. As you can imagine the family were absolutely thrilled with this, but they never received a call back after that and have since soured on the representation

The person who contacted the family is no longer employed by the SFA and there has been little moment ever since (they’re more preoccupied targeting dual nationality arsenal youth players currently)

Not unusual though like I said, because the SFA is a cluster**** - It has too many people with their own self serving agendas, connections to the president, government, security forces etc etc

Serbia has always had the players to be ranked anywhere between #15-#25 in the world, unfortunately until they fix their own federation – they will never reach full potential

I know they don’t want to, but they need to look at the country that borders them to the east (Croatia) in relation to an FA that does right by its players.

Hopefully we cap a lot of players between now and the end of round 2 of wcqs

I don’t want to deviate away too much from a league transfers lol, but I think a lot of fans were quite upset by the recent humbling’s provided by Mexico and cape verde in friendlies

It was essentially B & C team players in those 2 matches (3 under 20’s was in that defence again Mexico)

IMHO Serbia has the right coach in Paunović, the question is how many times is he going to be backstabbed by members of the federation who want to bring in their own friends?

I often wonder how different things would’ve been if Nemanja Vidic was successful in his bid to oust the old boys club in 2023

Luka can’t speak Flemish/French
Unless he moves to a small rural town in Wallonia he should be right and I’m sure he’ll pick up stuff. The majority of Belgians speak English, especially in Flanders and to a lesser extent in Brussels.

Interestingly, Belgium would have to be one of the only countries on Earth where somewhere that isn’t the capital and/or largest city speaks the best English, since Flanders is Flemish (Dutch)-speaking and A. English is quite similar to Dutch and B. almost all Dutch people speak English, whereas Brussels (while officially bilingual) is mostly Francophone in practise while Wallonia is almost all French-speaking other than the tiny German part.

Hopefully we take advantage of their clusterfuck and cap-tie him to the Socceroos then!
