I'm ambivalent about the 2nd midfielder. We don't have a good progressive passer there so I'd prefer to cover Irvine - who does have a high risk pass in him. Rely on the wing backs.

Herrington v Burgess is much of a muchness but Herrington has the potential to be something special and he and Circati help our ball progression more than our mids. They can step out.

Pretty close to mine, but O’Neill as DM. Not Devlin.

I reiterate, the best ball winner, Interceptor and Turnover causer (apart from Turnovers for McGree) of players in front of the back three.

I’d select Volpato over Metcalfe too. Otherwise the same team as you, Q.

You need to follow the u23s, Mr C!

The experienced players are invaluable.

In another year, there will be few players left in Socceroos from the over 25 Gen. Too much young quality coming through. Not enough experience though - yet.

Volpato was an Italian when I posted that. I'd have him over Metcalfe. Devlin I like better than O'Neill. I'd have played Robertson if he weren't inexplicably omitted.

The only good thing O'Neill did yesterday was diagonal set play passes. Otherwise it was another woeful display. He looked a bit sick or unwell and was a traffic cone. Maybe he wasn't the fittest. Playing Devlin will provide a spark and energy and he can pass the ball on short and the others can provide the assists.
