is now making me kind of want to get up the next two mornings for what looks like could be the 3 blockbuster matches:

Germany v Slovakia
Denmark v Scotland
Wales v North Macedonia (depends on how much weight they put on being in Pot 4 for the playoff, or not)

Wales would want to finish 2nd so that they host a playoff semi final and have an easier path to the playoff final.
 
Ireland game was clearly mental.

Though the penalty was not there though

Those calls benefit the attacker way too much. It sucks because all the attacker needs to do is speedily nice their foot in the direction of the defender and a natural defensive attempt makes it a foul.

Haven't read up but it appears the 4 UEFA teams to qualifying will be from a respective path A to D? So D will have someone lower ranked? Italy still have it tough then. Ideally Slovakia beat Germany tonight.

Yes - the 12 runners up will be ranked into 3 pots of 4 (Pots 1-3 using FIFA rankings), with pot 4 containing the 4x Nations League group winners.

Each path will consist of;
match 1 - Pot 1 v Pot 4 (single leg at Pot 1)
match 2 - Pot 2 v Pot 3 (single leg at Pot 2)
Match 3 - winner of Match 1 v winner of match 2 (single leg, venue randomly drawn of the two nations) with the winner qualifying for the World Cup
 
Ah right so pot 4 minnows, they're not exactly that these teams, will face pot 1.

Well.. pot 4 will probably be stronger than 3 - Northern Ireland, Sweden and Romania all confirmed, with the fourth spot being either Wales or North Macedonia

Yeah I saw the teams making it propped up the quality via the nations league. I think the nations league should continue but in a reduced form and the mathematicians need a system were league A can't tank qualifying and still be ok.

Best group winners that also finish third in the group? I mean I’d rather get rid of it all together and just have the 8 groups with the top 2 qualifying - but if it has to be playoff BS with nations league, that’s the only way I can think of that mathematically works
 
Germany lead 2:0 already. Only needing a draw that's surely that.
