2026 UEFA WC Qualification

England coach Thomas Tuchel seems to have a #10 conundrum?

Bellingham v Rodgers v Palmer v Foden

Bellingham - World class glalactico whose footballing ability is unquestionable.

Ridgers - Super reliable team oriented player who links the midfield and forwards beautifully.

Palmer - Whose dribbling, link up play and finishing is outstanding.

Foden - Blows hot and cold but whn on form has exquisite passing and finishing qualities.

Two from four?
Spoilt prob.

Belarus turn it around in Copenhagen while Greece led Scotland 3:0 but now it's 3:2.

Group A
* Germany v Slovakia - essentially a playoff for qualification (a draw will see Germany qualify on top). Loser goes to the playoffs. Northern Ireland confirmed in playoffs as Nations League group winner.

Group G
* Malta v Poland - Technically still in play, although essentially guaranteed. Poland needs to better Netherlands result to qualify directly ahead of Netherlands. In the event both nations win, Poland will also need to win by 13 goals more than what Netherlands does.
* Netherlands v Lithuania - see above

Group L
* No matches - Croatia has qualified directly, and Czechia has advanced to the playoffs.
Group E
* Spain v Turkey - essentially the same scenario as Norway and Italy for the two respectively. Turkey would have to win by at least 7 tomorrow qualify over Spain

Group J
* Belgium v Liechtenstein - A Belgium win will see them qualify directly, however a draw or loss (though either scenario very unlikely) will see the below outcome
* Wales v North Macedonia - these nations are in 3rd and 2nd respectively, and also both won their nations league groups, so in the even Belgium qualifies directly (again, extremely likely), both will qualify for playoffs regardless. Although where they finish in the group will effect their seedings: third place in this group will see the loser of this match (or Wales if it’s a draw) be placed into Pot 4 for the playoffs.

Austria on track to confirm qualification atm too - if Bosnia fail to defeat 10-man Romania (currently 1-1)

San Marino watch:

As things stand, I believe San Marino is finally removed from the playoffs equation: they’d need two of the blue nations on this table to qualify directly (or playoffs via 2nd place) to advance, and I don’t see that being possible now - given that Wales and North Macedonia are in the same group, and from what I can see, a Romania draw/loss and Sweden loss will see them confirm their spots via the Nations League as well.

Group B
* Kosovo v Switzerland - same as Turkey/Spain and Norway/Italy. Kosovo would need to win by 7 goals to jump Switzerland.

Group H
* Austria v Bosnia & Herzegovina - an Austria win/draw will see Austria qualify directly. BIH victory will see them qualify directly. Romania confirmed in third place (meaning playoffs via Nations League)

Group C
* Scotland v Denmark - a Denmark win/draw will see Denmark qualify directly. A Scotland victory will see them qualify directly. Whoever doesn’t will be in second place.

All Nations Leagues playoffs are confirmed, except for the Wales/North Macedonia scenario:
Romania, Sweden, Northern Ireland, Wales/North Macedonia.

Scotland will rue this opportunity
Scotland can qualifying directly by beating Denmark in the final game. Bit like Australia saying 'it's in our hands' despite the massive task at hand.

The fact they went down 3-0 to comeback to 3-2 shows that game against Greece was very winnable for them, in which case the tables would have been turned

This is Scotland's moment. A win required at home. Denmark will be content with a draw but it'll be really tense as Scotland will push for victory.

Just looking back at UEFA 06 qualifying. I know some teams have become better or worse sense then but geez some groups were tough. Serbia and Montenegro topped and Spain needed a playoff.

Gattuso clutching at straws about the one time the highest 2nd placed team qualified directly. In this case, removing results against the last placed team, Italy are currently the best 2nd ranked team with 3 goals better than Turkey and Slovakia also have 12 points.

Just watched it. Ireland win in Budapest at the absolute death to steal second place. Just crazy. Heart attack stuff.

Well, Norway batter Italy. Think that puts the latter's claim to rest and now they'll need to make do with the playoffs.

Might I have seen a headline that Ireland could draw Northern Ireland?

England defeat Albania 2-0 courtesy of a Harry Kane brace of goals in the 74th and 82nd minute of their game to go perfect with eight wins from eight in UEFA World Cup qualifying group K, becoming the first European side to play at least six qualifiers and go unbeaten without conceding.
