Socceroos vs Turkey 2026 World Cup match thread 🇦🇺🇹🇷

Okon-Engstler is definitely someone who will be playing in Europe after this World Cup.
 
Notice the lack of spaces in behind the back 5, I recalled only twice Turkey went in behind our defence which was the shot on goal from their wing back and the cut back for the header which was their best chance.

The USA created alot of chances against Paraguay so maybe they will be better in terms of trying to get chances but ive got confidence in how we are set up defensively to stifle them.

We can finish as one of the four best third-placed sides but ideally we want to finish as high as possible which is why another win or two would be a better outcome than two draws or a draw and a loss that would lead to the group being decided on for and against.

I won’t bother doing a permutations thing like I normally do until after the second matchday of our group is complete hahaha

Somebody might need to remind them that after the retreat from Cannakale, somebody from the Southern Hemisphere broke them in Palestine and then took Syria away from them.
(Took it from the French in WW2 as well, but that's a different story).
Nah, I don't want to make them deal with too many realities in one day. They are too good a people.

We could totally do an Anzac Day clash between A-League Men and Super Lig sides but international friendlies would have to be on another date of significance that actually falls within the windows stipulated by FIFA.

I agree because if we change keepers now we'll be asking what if stronger than not changing. Maybe Ryan for Paraguay if they're going to try and muscle. Not sure.

If Paraguay lose to Turkey next week then they'll only be playing for pride against us though so we could give Izzo a run between the sticks instead.
