I hate this underlying sentiment that football is only allowed to be played a certain way.

I think it’s what held us back between 2010 and 2022.

We play to our strengths, we know we aren’t good enough to keep the ball against better opponents.

MOM is tough. Okon, O'Neill terrific in midfield. Metcalfe great and superb finish. All cb's outstanding with Souttar a giant in every way. Beach fully justified Popa's call. Italiano, with help from Circati, did very well considering they really targeted his side.

What a gutsy win, typical Aussie performance at the end of the day and i'm proud of it against a good team in Turkey, the USA game will be a challenging game but i love to get one over them too given the amount of the crap the Yanks talk.

Popa took a gamble with some of the selections but it worked a treat, a shootout to Okon-Engstler as a double divot he played great and gave us a good outlet when breaking forward.
That was the key before the game we needed a outlet we got the ball to free up our attackers and wing backs and he put a great ball into Nestory who have a great game with he's finish, Metcalfe took he's chance well and he also had a great game so well done to him as well.

We dont play the prettiest brand of football but we are hard to break down and you got to have that when you set up in a low block, we are sturdy and a stingy side so have to make the most of the opportunities when we do have them, this is the recipe for our chance to win at this World Cup and today is a great template going into the next game and beyond.

I was having Germany 2010 Déjà vu when I saw that lineup - but maybe the fact it was employed by an Aussie coach who has been there and done that was the perfect game plan.
