ThanksA Bench Press of 120 kg 1 rep Max, is impressive, LFC!
Some of us skinny runts have some gruntI should know. I've failed to Bench Press 120kg on many occasions. Particularly, if you've never weighed more than 80kg.
A combo of youth and being "active" - during my gym workout phase I was surfing alot and playing Prem football, so my upper body was well tuned combined with doing weights. You must have worked hard to achieve this.
Been long ago to recall very well our routine but I seem to recall session breakdown was over a hour or so....3days on 1 off and repeat. Can you set out your WTing program?
sorry B can't help.![]()

Shoulders/Back one session
Chest/Arms next session
Legs next
4sets each 8/10 reps done slowly.
I cracked 120 a number of times but maybe 3 odd reps each time - it was my max.
Mind you it wasn't about how heavy you pumped it was how disciplined you did the rep to achieve great .
We knew a few serious body builders back in the day and they showed us how many casuals like us didn't do it well/the many cheats people do at bicep/tricep curls and not having a straight back amongst other excercise's.
Bench its all about slow down and slow push up - bench "flies" with dumb bells, do them properly you feel the burn and firm improvement of your chest.
Used to luv it but I dislike the "gym" culture real wank.
Surfing/football/gym - then I also got influenced into the lycra set in prep for pre season football - used to do 70k rides to prime my skinny leg muscles.
That lasted a few years but I got spooked IF ever falling off at high speed having seen some carnage over the times and thoght F this.
If done slowly these are called 'negatives'.4sets each 8/10 reps done slowly.
I train in 3 different gyms, because I train a lot.Used to luv it but I dislike the "gym" culture real wank.

It could well be the case, but I won't use anything unless a health pro advocates them.it's the new in thing at the moment. Everyone seems to be on the peptides, TB-500s, BPC-157
better late than never as they say.......At last!
It must have been months to get this response, LFC!
3 reps at 120kg indicates 125kg plus for 1 rep. Without taking steroids this is serious big weight lifting, mate!
yes I don't need a gym to keep fit enough in my ageing years.I train in 3 different gyms, because I train a lot.
ZAP - at some ZAPs there is a posing culture. The one I go to tends to have more clients over age 35. There are about 20 Exercise Bikes, Cross Trainers, Rowing Machines, Treadmills, Mountain Climbers, which have good traffic. Few of the users are posers. This ZAP 24 hour tends to have a good culture.
YPTH - specialises in over 50s health and fitness. There are 5 Ex Physios and 2 Physios constantly working with small groups and individual clients. The health pros are all friendly, young, keen and enthusiastic. The gym culture is great. A lot of banter at times. There are quite a few MH, PTSD, and NDIS clients, which keeps it more sombre. I've learned heaps from the health pros. The clients are mainly over 50.
Home - mostly outside, so not great in bad weather. Nice not to have to wipe down equipment.
I know what you mean about gym culture though. I tend to avoid it in these gyms apart from ZAP occasionally.
There are a lot of supplements advocated on forums, but none of the Ex Physios and Physios I interact with advocate them.it's the new in thing at the moment. Everyone seems to be on the peptides, TB-500s, BPC-157
You must be in good nick with all that cross training, LFC.yes I don't need a gym to keep fit enough in my ageing years.
I live on 2000sqm - the mowing gardening maintenance keeps me on the go plus have bench press weights here, still get a surf here and there + try to get on the golf course regularly as long as biz travels doesn't change my routines.
Still catching up with my team mates turn up for a training night now and then also.
I know I could be a lot better but not to bad.You must be in good nick with all that cross training, LFC.
I think that applies to everything we do - our bodies work how you treat it good or notApparently, our bodies get used to the same exercise regimen.
I have both styles of boards - it’s called a quiver. Not sure how old you are, but still surfing is good. Do you have a longer board?
How often are you still lifting weights having your own BP set up?yes I don't need a gym to keep fit enough in my ageing years.
