What you really after B ?
What is your main wants ?
No garmin is like a smart watch per say - fitness yep very good - I know a few triathletes/Cross Fit people who use Garmins religiously and other sports like for my golf is brilliant thats my main want from the Garmin for eg.

Researching
The Fenix 8 is for serious athletes and adventurers who demand the most capable and comprehensive sports watch on the market and are willing to pay a premium for it.

well the Epix Pro has been phased out.

need a new smartwatch, for work etc, fitness and golf all in one.

i dont do triathlons, marathons or any of that stuff

Thats the catch22 when saying smartwatch - garmins are not to the levels of apple and other smart watchs work wise etc but they are no good for golf expect you know.
Thats the trade off - garmin brilliant for golf app fitness etc but not great for calls - hence my iphone is in my pocket IF I do answer the depending who it is.
TBH I only have the garmin for golf plain and simple, fitness crap I'm not really bothered as well - good to see what msgs etc come through.

Other than surfing, which is an incredible workout, what else do you do for fitness, LFC?

If you still surf a few times a week, you don't need anything else.

D
I don't surf few times a week all year round due to time constraints/and getting older I dislike the cold temp water but once daylight savings kicks in some weekends I may have 2/3 or when on leave will squeeze in 2 a day depending the conditions.
IF I'm hanging at the beach with the Boss I'll also jog the beach depending its length and then possibly just dive back in for a swim.
I live on a 1200sqm property that has 3 split level lawns, between trimming/mowing/cleaning up takes 3hrs.
Trimming hedges cutting back other plants or maybe get the chain saw out cut down a tree or 2 I back onto a National Park hence lots of gums/wattles/natives and heaps of raking up leaves.
Over that weekend I may have washed/dried 3 cars because I luv doing that as well.
Oh having played football for near on 60yrs - once upon a time 2 trainings a/w for years.
I kickabout the football with one son still @ home or we go to the local park shooting practice challenge.
I play golf near on every Friday .am, walk those 6odd k's with ease.

I think all the mixed above activity keeps me in fair nick.
Yes I agree IF you could surf daily your dam fit as !

Don't usually post on this forum about this topic, but I'm chuffed ATM.

I've just Bench Pressed some of the biggest weights I've lifted for decades - at age 69. In the very safe Hammer Bench Press. Plus I've been repeatedly told I've stacked a lot of muscle on in the upper body, which is virtually impossible at my age.

All from circuit weight training too, doing high reps of 12 - 20 per set. No rests between sets, usually doing 20 - 35 mins non-stop in training range at high pulse rate - mixing balance, core, legs and upper body exercises. I'm using a lot more dumbbells than in the past.

Followed by 25 min warm down - trigger points, Pilates and Yoga.

Usually done 5 days per week.

Whats your PB?

Whats your PB?
115 kg - but many decades ago.

Don't do 1 rep maxes anymore.

I just did 12 X 70.7kg in the Hammer Bench P, but I'm told by health pros ( Ex Physios) it could equate to circa 5kg lighter than Barbell Bench P at that weight.

I've done a lot of recent 45 Degree Incline Dumbbell BPs and the lowest rung of Incline Dumbbell BPs in one gym I attend, because they have no Chest Press machine, Hammer Bench Press or standard Barbell BP racks.

I have comparatively weak grip strength though. Assembling and disassembling the weight is harder than Dumbbell Bench Pressing it when in position. I tend to do 20 reps of Incline BP, and include negatives.

I've had a lot of tutelage from Ex Physios in the last 7 years. They advocate Dumbbells a lot, because of the stabilising muscle effect.

EPs also advocate compound exercises - Squats, Deadlifts, Bench Presses, Incline Bench Ps, Overhead Presses (OHPs), Lat Pull Downs, Dumbbell Flies.

EPs also add Bosu balls, Fitballs, to make exercises harder and to activate more muscles, plus bring balance into play.

12 reps x 4 is enough when done properly imo.
I used to bench 120k was my max back in the day - always been a slim/skinny build never weighed more than 80k.
Been walking more nowadays high tempo (6/7k's easy) and my regular activity keeps me fairly fit but not match fit.
Started going back to football training last few weeks being I'm considering to register after having last season off - that tells you where your at fitness wise.
Just played a championship semi hilly length golf course on Sunday - 24,559 steps in humid conditions - got to say that sure sorted me out like a training run, long par3/4/5's from championship tees.

Beretta - hows your garmin going ?

Which Championship Course did you play at over the weekend? Walking from the back tee's is never fun lol

Getting back into Golf this year, only played 6 competition rounds last year, terrible.

Kooindah Wyong (had a boys weekend away), too true, one of our mates by the 14th couldn't be bothered walking to back tee starting using yellows hahaha we gave him heaps but got to say sure was draining when your used to the usual council course's we play for fun short and sweet.

its very time consuming depending when you play - fam commitments - and the Boss.
I gave up playing weekends long ago - the Boss complains being a football widow at the best of times then to be a gold widow on weekends I'd hardly see her ?! oh wait that could be good hahaha
IF it wasn't for working in my own biz I'd hardly play - if not biz travelling I play every Friday early .am and try to play comp game during the week when possible - that way the Boss has no reason to complain.

Tough course, I've played there a few times, it isn't for walking lol.

i dont have time during the week. so its only sundays for me, i'd be lucky to play once every 3 to 4 weeks.

yer madness really - just thankfull not a stinking warm day !

Yes I hear you re the time factor - even though I can sneak the game during the week at times can't play for 3 odd wks due to commitments.
Hard to get any consistancy in that game why you end up having a hard game worse at those long tuffer course's but what the heck its fun.

A Bench Press of 120 kg 1 rep Max, is impressive, LFC!

I should know. I've failed to Bench Press 120kg on many occasions. Particularly, if you've never weighed more than 80kg.

You must have worked hard to achieve this.

Can you set out your WTing program?
