The Football Australia Thread

Says senior Socceroo not former Socceroo.

Meaning that the current players plus CBA were on a conference all with her and ready to make an informed pitch / presentation (which she must have surely understood was the point of the meeting), and she joined in her car while driving....

....either incompetence or she's a strategic genius.
has to be irvine then

Has the CEO search been finalised yet??
Been 4 months now since it was announced. I did a quick search today and google turned up nothing in the past few months aside from the interim being likely to get the role full time. Nothing even on any possible candidates.

haven't heard any update

I did find in like 2019 we got articles like this -

Spoke about John Didulica withdrawing and the remaining candidates etc.

Nothing official from FA but at least there was interest from media and candidates names being thrown about. I could find literally nothing this time except one article back in May.

My bet, they'll announce Garriock in the lead up to the Women's Asian Cup, and they'll make it a great celebration that she's a woman and how we're leading the world etc. etc.

Meanwhile, the "global search" is quietly swept under the carpet. Who knew the best person in the world for the role was under our noses the entire time!

But hey, Garriock's sunscreen will get a boost 👍🏻

But that's 5 months away? How long can an interim be an interim lol

“Who knew the best person in the world for the role was under our noses?”Sounds like they are reading from the FQ playbook when hiring a CEO.

If Garriock is the best they can come up with then the game here is in even more trouble than it is already.

The final line should read, "Until the next lawsuit"

LOL I called it, not even a month later!

Former A-League championship coach Ernie Merrick is taking Football Australia to court, claiming his dismissal from a high-ranking technical role earlier this year was “targeted and unlawful”.

That may be part of it, yes. But at the moment I have a case number, and almost two months of nothing.
Dear Nicholas,

Thank you for contacting Football Australia. We apologise that your report was not responded to when it was received.

We understand your concerns to be related to decisions made by Capital Football to block you from various social media channels.

The National Complaints Procedure allows a Complainant to escalate their complaint if they are not satisfied with how the report was handled at a lower level. An escalation is not an opportunity for appeal of the decision made at a lower level, but rather a request to review whether the process undertaken by the lower level was in accordance with this Complaints Procedure.

Football Australia only considers escalation of complaints if the matters reported occur at the national level or are considered to be the most serious matters at state or territory level which and it would be in the interests of Football as a whole for the matter to be escalated to Football Australia.

Football Australia has reviewed your escalation request and determined that the issues raised do not meet the threshold for Football Australia to consider the escalation.

We thank you again for contacting Football Australia. Your report will be closed in accordance with clause 9.1(d) of the National Complaints Procedure.

Kind regards,
Football Australia Integrity Team

in other words there is no review system

Exactly - because Capital Football obviously don’t have one (lower level), so - I guess it’s time for me to hit them (CF) up on why I’m still blocked on some of their channels, despite their act of goodwill, and why they blocked me in the first place.

We can do another pod next year if there is any unresolved issues.
In particular we can have yoogali on

Will see what happens - I am drafting a response to my ignored request for evidence by CF - and also have something ready to re-escalate to FA (given their response notes about reviewing the process at local level) so will see how that goes.

The interesting bit will be if they give me evidence from after July - as that falls after I was blocked and the initial emails - so it would show targeted exclusion and lack of transparency on their part.

Reading the comments on that video, not one was about this conversation on the state of the game here in Australia. I know Stan are Premier League fans, but I would've thought there would be some Aus football fans chipping in about this. Doesn't seem much, if any, crossover there amongst the public.
