The Championship was the path layed down by JJ (that took how long as we know), least thats a massive start at the top end but I have grave fears of its longivity with this lot over the next say 6/8mths sticking by the path then what ???
As for the Feds and below what is new ? oh costs have been put up.
Obviously the NT's incl the Joeys etc needs ongoing resource coming in but what about making nosie about grass roots infrastructures/facilities/improve salaries for coaching/align the coaching/developing and improvements.
Where are new updated directives for the mass's.
OK needs $$, what are you doing ? any new big/ger sponser ?

I googled

Would you have considered absorbing the cost of a coffee price rise in the last landmark deal ?
Why not have quoted in that interview how many grants have been provided to grass roots clubs ? at least that would have given some substance.
Who see any commbank/qantas/Nike signage at grass roots grounds, fly the sponsers, show we have some decent named corps behind the game locally for eg......

You hear nothing for a major governing body.
 
I appreciate people saw it differently, but if you dont know about the wider issues in our game (and the interviewers didnt seem to know their stuff enough to know where to apply the pressure) i doubt you would see that as embarrasing for football. She sounded professional, knowledgeable and calm.

Sorry, I can’t agree that she sounded professional or knowledgeable. I think most people, whether or not they knew about wider football issues, would have taken that from the conversation. For example, she literally started off by saying that there was not a 20% increase in fees, and then proceeded to explain that the FA portion of the fee is increasing by $3 to $18 or $7 to $42, literally a 20% increase. She sounded very unconvincing throughout the whole conversation.

it no matter the calibre of the interviewer Graz.
When your on a national radio station that has a fair reach no matter he's a bit of a ol school shock jock its your chance to shine.
Not sure what bar you have been around regards to sounding professional and calm.
She was reactive, sure sounded ok but wasn't clear in the first place hence the guy not getting it and back tracked.
My work involves dealing with corporates to self made millionaires and attend many meetings - large and small presentations by CEO's down to middle management.
Even I could have done a more polished job :) maybe your bar is a very different level to what I expect from a person in that kind of position.

If the standstill between the PFA and Football Australia over the new collective bargaining agreement continues then I won't be surprised if eventually the Socceroos and Matildas players decide to go on strike and of course Heather Garriock would be the one to blame especially given what happened in that meeting.

Thats correct though?
There was a 20% increase in fas cut not a 20% increase in fees

this is where the pressure needs to be, only 2% reinvested into the grassroots compared to 30% in the uk

Could someone to me that how they can say the game is affordable to play when it costs thousand of dollars to compete at these SAP junior development programs?

I listening to the interview as well and I agree she looked all over the place, again the people that are participating in the sport which are the players and the fans should not take the burden to fund the sport.

We got all wrong in Australia and then they question why the grassroots numbers aren't converted into masses at the top end.

Depends in what comes across in the media I suppose. When media says 'Registration Fees', they're generally talking about the complete package (FA's cut, Member Feds cut, clubs cut, etc), whereas Heather is doing a bit of a butcher's job in explaining that FA's portion of the fees, while yes is a 20% increase, is an increase of $3.
She's probably doing a butchers job of it because in clarifying that, she'd be putting the onus on why many clubs have very high 'registration fees' over others.

Thought that part was reasonable and she handled it quite well. She compared those “academy” fees or whatever you want to call them to private coaching/tutoring. But yeah, kids from financially less well-off families are going to not be able to afford it. The comparison she used was tennis coaching, which was a good example I think.

Does Tennis Australia mandate that local Tennis clubs have to follow certain coaching methodologies, ONLY use expensive licensed coaches, and insist on TD, all ages teams and minimum requirements for insurance in order for clubs to be able to even exist though?

The problem is the elite pathway should be for the best and kids that want it the most not the ones who’s parents have deep pockets.

I’ve just come back from the Balkans and it’s a shock how affordable is for kids to join an academy side plus they can get scouted too, day and night to here.
 
Yes she justified these outside OTT costs to another elite sport - go figure what a cop out as a governing body and one agreed as such then said yes it isolates those who can’t afford who are the bulk in the big picture.
So how many are we losing through the net once again am I asking ? On top of a closed top league.

Says senior Socceroo not former Socceroo.

Meaning that the current players plus CBA were on a conference all with her and ready to make an informed pitch / presentation (which she must have surely understood was the point of the meeting), and she joined in her car while driving....

....either incompetence or she's a strategic genius.
