P n R This could work

Good point
The only problem is that the real club people from new football and old soccer are being kept apart.

We have 1000+ clubs in Australia, each of them with football fans who are dedicated "club above everything else in my life" people... Some clubs have 10 others might have hundreds or even thousands (and yes this includes the Aleague clubs by now). IMAGINE what sort of ecosystem we could have if we just looked inwards to ourselves rather than trying squeeze money of Mr and Mrs Bogan and their snot nosed kids?

I'm not so sure, the FA has stifled the culture here, trying to convert the unconverted.
its the same as the APL formally Lowy/AL.
Focus on the top no matter the below.
THIS is what the FA needs their heads smashed about - correct the bottom up, bang the Feds heads and get the top NPL Pro and Pro2 if feasable.
2026 and we still have semi Pro that is feeding the top - in the world of capitalism this is beyond a joke.
Football management here is backward.

And before that Soccer Australia was trying to convert the non-effniks.. Its always the same A tiny share of the population (both new football and old soccer) worship their clubs, the lions share of population wants to tik tok about Lamine Yamal and explain how its called "football" not "Soccer"...
If you cannot even get the name of the game right, what chance do you have?

Association Football.

It's the details that count, however small they are.
Not really mate, some of the most fervent one club people in Australia have SC on their club's crest... If you are still tied up with what the actual fucking game is called then you probably wouldn't have any connection with a football club now would ya?

Ahem (Adding/removing spaces in edit mode until the arrow lines up perfectly - and yes - I am in agreeance and just adding a physical point).

Two things we need to start, again I ask refusing good because it's not perfect is never clever.

Second, as long as the model is open to all i
yer no on the article - why once again have another model that tippy toes till further notice and for only so few.
Haven't we held back and fragmented the game long enough ?!
For another lets start at GO build it and they will sort out bit by bit.
Clean up the slate !
We are going round in circles and circles due to 2 main barriers right now.
Closed shop league - this is not helping us whatsoever incl the W side of the ledger is near on broke ! And the Feds having too much snout in the trough.
A FA CEO with some honest balls luv/direction for the game, get some smart/passionate football people in positions (surely they are around) to steer the vision/directive (fark Seek or Linkdin is handy :)) - leave the APL to manage their own shop But get the game aligned State to State - Championship/NSD/NPL down.
Whatever comp/s that need to be reset lets get moving on it before ICE freeze's over for its already there.
Ridiculous we can't have a main NPL or NSD Comp with SMH/Prestons etc with APIA/Marconi/SU/Sutho ?/Bris Lions etcetc like seriously this pitiful for 2026.
Don't agree ...the article heavily copies the Japanese model.

As I have posted elsewhere is wanting perfect getting in the way of good...

The article says develop a model...it does not say copy the existing A-League model...

What the Japanese model did was look at sustainability first and then added to it....

The model excludes no one and does not proscribe what's required other than sustainability...

Its equally true that not models in Europe are the same...

This model copies an existing Asian power house model and Japan is very often referred to as a country we should copy...

I love the idea and IMO it could work.... the issue is agreeing on a model

They really have brainwashed you lot, haven't they?

No, getting people or teams or games's names right, is important, it is also called, RESPECT!

Fuck your, " she'll be right mate" attitude off. And you wonder you are not taken seriously as a football nation.

I dont see it as brainwashing rather lack of importance. The only people that seem to be bothered by the whole thing are either old Brits or millennials that try and copy their favourite youtuber. Neither of which has any relevance to me.

Mid... NO I get it, start tomorrow.. Im all for Matts idea.... No need to wait for the "perfect". Im not refusing "good" as you say, lets do it.

I just want an acknowledgement from him (or the APL) that their goal IS the "perfect" becuase I dont beleive it is.

Fuckin nonsense!

You Victorians were badly brainwashed into calling it Soccer by the VFL, back min the fifties and sixties. NSW were not far behind either.

Remember " Wogball " you lot even called it that yourselves at times.

All true, we were probably trying to copy something.

I will say that when I became a football fan in 2006 getting constantly lectured when i slipped up and said soccer was bizarre

It was like hearing a star trek fan get very upset you mispronounced something in klingon

Even to a physicist they came across as total dorks and I suspect the same is true today. If we care about getting new fans in we should probably not sweet that crap

It was my point, so I agree.

Well we need it more than ever before, not only because of aspiration of the clubs but the amount of talent in the playing and coaching capacity is too hard to ignore as well.

Agree we are a very fractured and selfish game here in Australia meanwhile our players, coaches and our national teams make us look good on the international stage.

If we have a worse problem with factions then it means we need to have more democracy so there is a fair way to adjudicate between the wishes of different factions

I assume you meant not perfect...

Alas my friend to many people think they know best and squabble over ???????!!!!!! actually who thinks they have the biggest appendage...

It was either you or someone suggested that we don't let the Football folk talk way to many suits from all sides thinking they have the biggest appendage... Get in the way...

Can guarantee if you got a Coastie a SM bloke, throw in a SFC fellow and some guys from local park teams they would get along and agree on most things.

We need to make a decent model...it also won't be perfect but if everyone can live with it...

Then anchor sustainability add what we can all live with and start it...
..
