Sure, thats valid, but as has been also mentioned, in msot other coutnries where the Cup winner gets continental football, if the are already tied in as league winners, then the next spot goes the league standing NOT the cup loser.

I think it’s only a minority who clearly don’t see themselves as Aussies. They may be proud of their identity but I think most aren’t stupid enough to actually think they just “live” here. There are however groups that don’t identify with their home nation due to conflict, discrimination, mistreatment and separatism, for example Assyrian Australians will identify as Assyrian and Australian but not as Iranian, Iraqi, Syrian or Turkish.
