The wtf is AI up to thread

Just a heads up to those people that think it's a top idea to get chatgpt to explain world issues and politics to them.

ChatGPT scrapes information based on patterns and puts it into prose. There is no warranty that it provides you with anything correct

AI bot calls an ai bot, they realise they're both AI and decide to dispense with the human shit and talk computer instead

AI will hopefully have positive effects for medicine. I can imagine though 'after scanning his heart and detecting some anomalies, this can only be attributed to the patient's profile which states 'Socceroos supporter'.

I can imagine very poor examples where you'll have someone as white as a ghost and the AI spits out 'Due to the West African genetics in the patient (don't we all have this?) the patient has a much higher likelihood of said medical issue.

all I can tell ai will just cause more misled people world over.
Don't believe everything whats on the internet - yet many do.

AI already is more accurate for detecting skin cancers than doctors specialising in it. It won't be long before it replaces radiologists, radiographers and sonographers. Or at least does the first pass as a high level overview to flag issues.

The other day I saw an story about an AI robot perform a gall bladder operation autonomously. (Was on a dead pig but still.)

Some amazing stuff coming.

I'm using it for work more and more. The other day I had some mad calculations to perform and I was checking my working and gave chatGPT all the parameters and it spat out the answer. When I interrogated it a bit more as to how it derived certain equations or steps it elaborated and provided all the working. (With references.) Then, and this blew my mind, it said, do you want me to create a spreadsheet with all of this in there?

I said sure. 10 seconds later a working spreadsheet. Then I said can you make it dynamic, IE work for a different number of variables (self populate), another 10 seconds. Boom.

Literally would have taken me most of the day to create this spreadsheet.

And I'm in a profession where, according to all the talk, I'm at the least risk of losing my job to AI.

Wild times ahead.

Get on board LFC.

yer sure sure I'll give it a go......

Muz, do you agree as each tech advancement comes along many many people just won't be using whats between their ears ?
I suppose thats where MAN/WOMEN/THEY/IT is heading right so everyone will be in the same basket :)

Had this discussion yesterday. Are we worse off because we navigate with GPS and not physical maps or use a calculator rather than do mental arithmetic?

I can do both but in reality are the kids worse off than we were because they can't use a physical map?

And providing the data and output is accurate what's the difference between reading what AI has generated and picking up an Encyclopedia?

Did you watch that video? AI generated 30 million new molecules. Something only possible by thousands of scientists working for thousands of years. Things like that are mad,

Here's a story about proteins. 200 million of them.

It's like everything. There's good and bad. They said radio will rot the mind, then it was TV, then it was the internet and now it's AI.

Think about the benefits of deploying a robot to poor countries in the world to perform surgeries on people that would never, ever be able to be treated.

There's so many upsides.

Look, I'm all for moving forward - heck I'm still in biz making use of tech BUT I can manage more so cope if there's NO WIFI for eg......
Todays young gen have meltdowns And BIZ stops as well might I add.
Oh yes there is always the phase of this won't work and will rot the mind BUT generally the internet IS rotting a huge % of peoples minds.
You only have to see so so many followers re SM, the protests etc - half these sheep are just followers and causing contributing to the modern rot that is occurring world over.
Mental health.
The nazi party for eg - seriously gtfo you drop kicks, your like in your 20's/30's, wish the cops could work like the ol days sort them out but then again victoria, what a State basket case.
Interent again provides the intel where when etc.....

Nah I hardly watch any vids linked up sorry mate - I even try not to watch much of the bad news today for its just depressing, whinging/moaning/someone else's fault yaddayadda - my wife reads up everyday and asks did I hear of this ??? I tend to be polite but I'd like to say stop reading all this BS fark off I really don't care :)

I'm all for helping out the countless people in need, those mega billionaires for decades could help that many times over in the past to present.
Gates/Zuckerberg/Musk etcetc etc, that wanka Bezos spending a motza in Venice getting married, send the funds to Africa, Ukraine wherever the need is required long before damn robots mention.

Just as a rebuttal, and not to downplay the potential of new technology. As LFC states above, those billions of dollars spent on creating a robot army of doctors to perform surgery in Africa would be MUCH better spent shipping tonnes of food relief and farming technology to these countries.....

Moving into an age of minimal human labour and now analysis and decision making is great if it benefits ALL the world... until everyone has a place to sleep, clean water and enough food for their bellies I would focus humanities endeavours on other things.... But the mighty dollar moves all mountains it seems. Bring on AI, endless wars and the growing disparity between the haves and have nots...

To your first paragraph, there's no reason you can't do both at the same time.

Forget Africa just imagine having a robot in say Albury or Roma that performs surgeries that you would ordinarily wait years to get in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.

To your second point. Yes. When I was a kid we were promised 2 day work weeks and more leisure time than we'd know what to do with. It seems, as usual, this AI will put kajillions of people out of work with no net benefit to the pleb.

If only there was a way to tax the fuck out of these people and 'redistribute' some of this wealth.

Did someone say UBI?

Amazingly the billionaire that gets the most grief is Gates. Just about the only tech bro' putting his hundreds of billions to good use.

yep here here but one thing that will not change is the have's and have not's.
Human nature ai or not.

Oh that he has he was a decent there but could lobby more, to Govs to his fellow trillionaires,, encourage and set up a Global Fund and assign people who actually will make sure where the $ goes and people see the benefits, be it infrastructure/food/hospitals/schoolong/water in very remore areas for eg.
By the way I've hardy heard of late Gates getting any grief.

Haha. Mate go on any anti vaxxer / COVID / 15 minute city / chemtrails pages and see how he's 'responsible' for everything bad in the world.

Well him and Blackrock and Vanguard.

And George Soros. Lol.

Hey chatGPT list the conspiracies where bill gates is the main protagonist. Put a one or 2 sentence summary under each claim.

ChatGPT said:

Here’s a list of major conspiracy theories where Bill Gates is the central figure, with short summaries for each:

1.

Claim: Gates supposedly wanted to implant microchips in people through COVID-19 vaccines to track and control them.
➡️ This false idea spread widely during the pandemic, fueled by mistrust of vaccines and Gates’ philanthropy in global health.

2.

Claim: Gates is accused of using vaccines and health programs as a way to secretly reduce or control the global population.
➡️ This stems from his comments on lowering population growth through better healthcare, which were misinterpreted as malicious.

3.

Claim: Gates allegedly helped create or release the coronavirus to profit from vaccines and medical technology.
➡️ The theory gained traction because Gates had previously spoken about pandemic risks, which conspiracy theorists twisted into “evidence.”

4.

Claim: Gates was behind the rollout of 5G technology, which supposedly spread or worsened COVID-19.
➡️ No scientific basis exists, but this theory merged two separate fears: new wireless technology and the pandemic.

5.

Claim: Gates is secretly pushing for a global “digital ID” system tied to vaccines and health passports.
➡️ This idea often links to his funding of ID2020, a real nonprofit initiative aimed at providing digital identity to underserved populations.

6.

Claim: Gates is buying up farmland to monopolize food production and push synthetic meat.
➡️ While Gates is indeed one of the largest private farmland owners in the U.S., conspiracy theories exaggerate it as part of a plan to control diets.

7.

Claim: Gates wants to block out the sun through geoengineering to fight climate change, with dangerous hidden motives.
➡️ This comes from his funding of research into solar radiation management, which conspiracy circles frame as a dystopian power grab.
