Always thought a third Melbourne team was a nonsense.

The Canberra bid needs to be sorted plus Wollongong brought back and we're all sorted.

That give us the nice blend of new AL clubs and those from the 90's NSL era and everyone's happy.

Not nonsense at all.
Problem is the successful bids were never really what the people wanted.
Heart was always half-arsed, followed by CFG bringing in their own baggage.
WU started life on a lie and then had no home for way too long.
Not much for people to grab a hold of.

Agree with all of this. Except that as the self-proclaimed “sporting capital of the world”, and having passed 5 million in population, Melbourne should be able to get more than 10-12K to a football match no? I know Victory did back in the day, but that was many years ago.

Gotta also investigate the other fat cunt who fled the country to work in the middle east...
I also want to know how Oakleigh (who are all chummy with that bastard Pehlivanis) swindled money from the State govt for a grandstand for a club with NO FANS!

Yet, a club like Heidelberg with history gets nothing!

But, according to most Heidelberg fans, WE (South Melbourne Hellas) are the evil enemy.

Absolutely clueless

Going by population, pretty much all of the capital cities should be able to pull 15k+ every game, yet like MV they don't.

Unfortunately, all people can do is grab hold of something when it comes to WU :(

I think that if I was in Melbourne looking for a plastic franchise now, Melbourne City would appeal to me. I have no feeling towards CFG and the club has players who play and a good football presence on the pitch.

Melbourne City is not a basketcase (speaking of bloody awful movies) as a product. It is the eternally damning question of how to engage with the people who would be interested in engaging.

And a third Melbourne club would be fine if it was an existing community club with a more global population interest than 'just the local community club' - perhaps like Oakleigh (he said with no local knowledge at all but a very clear understanding of how to poke bears).

Point of difference is what they look for - what better than a community based club to oppose the evil plastiques as a point of difference!

"I always thought a 3rd Melbourne team was nonsense. It makes more sense to have a 6th team from NSW.”

What a seriously dumb post.
Ah insults, seems like your buddy MSC you can't function without insults.

Typical scummy Melbournian.

You call it an insult. I call it fact.

I hope Western United finds a buyer and are re-admitted next year. But I think that’s unlikely.

There are at least 4 VIC-based NPL clubs that would bring more to the AL than Wollongong. I don’t see any reason why Wollongong deserves any priority or fast tracking. Let them work for it via a future Promotion/Relegation system.

I would give WU a February 28 deadline. If they fold, give the 4 VIC NPL clubs 6 week bidding process with a mid-April deadline. That gives the winning bid 6 months to build a team.

Add Canberra, and that puts us at 14 teams.

The only nplv club that could get in is South and im not even biased and dont even care either way.

Prestons facilities for eg are nowhere near up to scratch in terms of being parachuted in, 800-1000 seats wouldnt cut it, ground needs significant investment.

Preston already have wheels in motion to add another grandstand on the opposite side dont they?

I agree it needs work but not extensive work.
