The Australian Championship šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗšŸ†

Do we think the shades of blue are too close and Marconi will be forced to play in the changed green white and red kit

Also do we think that the perception of a Sydney centric bias played on the minds of the fa when deciding whether the final would go to Sydney or Melbourne
I think there will be a clash of strips, so Marconi may be required to wear its alternate strip of green.

Interestingly the green white and red away kit which hasn’t been worn yet this comp bares a striking resemblance the one worn in the last game away against Hellas in the nsl finals in 04

Surely Hellas have to change in the interest of fairness re the game being in Melbourne no? ;)

Marconi v hellas final, ā€œthe clash of the titansā€ Huge, how befitting for the first championship final to be contested between the NSL’s two most successful clubs. Gonna be hard for them to decide where to play the final. No obvious way of doing it fairly

@Monoethnic Social Club šŸ’ƒ
Clash of the Titans iundeed mate... its gonna be epic.... AND looks like I can at least make the second half.... winner winner chicken dinner.

He does have a problem believing crowd figures, especially his own teams, he either exaggerates them or fails to believe the low ones.
TBF mate, I thought the place had more than 4K Theres suppsoed to be nearly 8k seating (I think) and it looked way more than half full.

At the ground I "guestimated 5 to 5.5 K only slightly less than the opening match... who knows.... I dont believe ANY of the reported figures from the start of the Championship.

Atmosphere was pretty decent though, many levels above a normal NPL match., thats the main thing.

Nah, we dont want the inaugural Australian Championship winner team photo to be in our away strip

Better than me, as I’ve said previously i can’t even make the Saturday 3pm kick offs in Sydney let alone Melbourne, there’s no way I’ll be able to make it down at this short a notice, putting aside the exorbitant flight prices at the moment, have got a business to run unfortunately

I had all but given up being able to attend and was surprised it is at OV which oddly suits me. The time/date is garbage though... at least make it Saturday evening or something, lend a tiny bit of gravitas to a national final...

Well you may get your wish, you said you wanted to see Marconi in the green white and red tricolore
For the first time this season the tightness in my chest is subsiding.... 2-3 matches away from relegation 6 months ago to competing in our 2nd grand final for the year is astonishing... AND against an old foe we havent seen live in decades... whatever happens I can honestly say may the best team on the day win... With 4 national titles each this is the first chance at a tie-breaker weve had in 20 years.....

Good luck to your boys, Ive enjoyed watching them play and am thankful Ill watch them live next weekend. Don't work too hard on Saturday make sure the tellie is on nice and loud :)

As I say, couldn’t have scripted it better, fitting matchup to contest the first ever aus championship final. Two clubs which made up part of the backbone of the nsl and look likely to do so again in the NSD

Hopefully atleast some kind of a contingent of travelling support are able to make it down at such short notice to make it more of an event. No doubt Hellas would have travelled in bigger numbers if the roles were reversed, as I say they’ve always probably had the best travelling support of the traditional clubs and Marconi has never travelled particularly well

Yeah, fitting that we face in the final, and also fitting we both faced local rivals on the way to get here.. One more match to go and we can do a bit of a debrief on the whole experience but overall I think proof of concept is sound.... At least sound enough to give clubs outside the circle an appetite to want to compete next year...

Every South supporter do NOT give a cent to Heidelberg at this game. If you must eat prior to the game go and eat at Northland, they even have a souv place there now.
Man, to be honest, I sort of feel sorry for them.... A whole bunch of latent fans got excited because they were touted as the best club outside the A league this year and they have won what exactly? I mean their hubris bit them in the arse all year, just like our 3 peat of GF failures did for us... This was their last big chance at relevance, they will be half the club they are now next season...

They'l have to wait another decade to get a new generation of kids making banners and chanting ethnic slogans from the 1990s again.

A-A-Alexandros, eine poutsokefalos.

Im enjoying my eggs on toast this morning .. with some feta and bacon on the side. :P

I think it’s shown enough to warrant aiming for a proper home and away league. Particularly if Sydney Olympic and Sydney united can get their houses in order, bring in an Adelaide city and a south Hobart and you’re heading in the right direction

Will be an interesting tactical battle this weekend I reckon, really hard to say how it’ll go. As I say, I think tsekinis plan for Marconi will be treat it like an away game and turn it into an ugly slog. Hellas probably go in as favourites particularly given the home city advantage and imbalance in support in the terraces. But it’s a final and you never know what’ll happen. Imagine if after all the talk of the recent record of nsw v vic teams Marconi break the streak win the one that matters the most
