The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

Agree

I can see the logic behind the 1pm and 3.15pm kick offs as it provides SBS a window to show matches on their main channel and does not conflict with A League fixtures.

For instance, a 1pm kickoff for a home South match would be disastrous as the crowd would be tiny.

I think you can schedule matches later in the day in cities where you don’t clash against a same state A League team.

The Australian Championship is there to complement the A League. We are not in competition with them.

I truly believe you can foster a League Cup competition between A League and Australian Championship teams to promote both competitions and grow further interest in the code.
For me the decision was totally wrong by FA. .... Why shouldnt we have gone head to head? We make concessions with the APL/PFA that has zero interest in the good of the game or our comp (as has been proven!). Hurdles from them the whole time with the hope of failing... SBS would surely benefit from 1 game atleast being primetime on a Saturday irrespective of what the other league is doing gicen it has no netowrk interest in! We keep the Friday slot and they can have sunday evening exclusive if they like! Fridays stays with US. Its not like we running a h&a that will clash all year, its little over a month, they can bite the bullet and stfu!

That will most likely determine top spot in that group.

Bergers are more than likely to defeat South Hobart today. If they draw away to Marconi at the very least, that should be enough to clinch top spot.
Ive had one eye on this group for obvious reasons.. cant decide what order i prefer them in though.. a QF vs Marconi and a huge semi vs bergers or other way round?

If your league turns into a big success, then may be able to start telling them when to play your games, not in the first season. Earn your place first, then bargain from a position of strength.

Were i would normally agree with you and you are right that CERTAIN things need be earnt ( imo have been earnt 20+ years now but ok!)... Im talking about a saturday timeslot however, unless the APL has some sort of exculisivity based on some 'success' we dont see.... if thats the case then AL should only run monday or tuesday nights in Melb when AFL kicks off bc based in success they should have it all locked up the rest of the time, No?

The world over as im sure you know upper and lower divisions run on same days give or take same times, without complaints..

For QF i believe all that has to happen is we end up on opposite spots ie Sth first & marconi second in your group or vice versa.
No

Assuming South finished top of Group A, then they would face the second team from Group C.

For South to meet Marconi or Heidelberg, it would likely occur in either the semi-final or grand final.

My apologies i had the group numbers wrong in my head... .
Quarter Finals: A1 v C2, B1 v D2, C1 v A2, D1 v B2. These matches will be played at 1:00pm and 3:00pm AEDT on Saturday 22 November and Sunday 23 November respectively.

Going the big squeeze

Honestly - how was that not a red card?

Referees shouldn't be carding players based off things they don't see/hear.

I get we have the benefit of replay (so correct outcome would be - IMO - Wollongong freekick. Red Card Wollongong #9, Yellow card Marconi #17), but this just looks like "oh something happened, I missed it, I'll yellow card both players). Unless I'm missing something in the context of the challenge, the player carded from Marconi should not have been carded.

Just watched the replays finally

Woolongongs defense just decided to die after the red card. Could've gotten truly ugly if not for some missed chances from Marconi. In the end I was cheering for Marconi

Great to finally see Metrostars win. It's been a tough start for them so was thrilled to see them get up

Watch out in the Shouts.

The team listed first is not always the home team if that is a factor of your tipping.

For example, CANBERRA CROATIA are listed first but they are not the home team.

;)
I think its literally the opposite

We put the home team in and it appears 2nd for some reason
