Summer of Cricket thread

Finally Neil-Smith is back playing cricket. DC can you tell me why he'd be opening the batting for Clarence. Scoring some runs too (50*). Now stay fit big fellar.

I don't want to drop Lyon, but I think team renewal is more important.
Renewal, transition, call it what you will but it has to happen soon. I think Starc too may be in for a tap if he has a poor series.

LNS just smoked a pacer for 4 sixes in the over. Is now eyeing a century. And Aust is looking for a new opener. 😛 Louis Smith opened the bowling for Uni too. Had 6 runs taken off five overs. That is Hazlewood like economy.

Is a picturesque ground Kangaroo Bay Oval with the marina in the foreground. Like to watch a match there if I ever came to Hobart again.

LNS nails his 100 at almost a run a ball too. And he is far from finished. Always knew he could handle the willow as from memory he hit a pair of shield 70s as a nite watchman about three yrs ago.

He was within a sniff of the double ton but fell trying to hammer another 6, so near yet so far. He completely decimated the Uni attack in two sessions with 11 fours and a whopping 12 sixes . Dickins who was on the end of the LNS mauling earlier had his revenge. But what exceptional power batting from a guy who usually bats 8 for his club and state. DC is KBO a small ground as LNS seemed to clear the boundary with minimum effort.

Might be only playing as a batter. Might not be able to bowl ATM.

I think he has bowled well for a long period of time.

Can’t see Starc being dropped on form.

Grazor produced a chart a few years back that showed his form declining after the first 2 Tests in any series.

It is a small ground, Baggers.

Another Shield game starts today at Bellerive Oval. Not sure who Tas are playing?

The weather is cold, windy with showers for days. Not much chance of a result.

Not sure of the other 2 Shield games?

Also, I'm still unhappy with Smith being captain because of South African ball tampering.

Head, Carey for mine as new look captain.

Usman if he was younger, or Lyon, if he was younger too.

I was always worried about Cummins as captain, only because of the injuries associated with pace bowling. Having said that Paddy has been a superb statesperson and public face.

A captain can always seek Smith's astute tactical acumen.
Time to move on from the sand paper scandal I reckon - everyone in the team would've known what was happening, but Smithy fell on the sword. He has to be the captain with Patty out

I'm keen to add the ACT and NT to the Shield. Then make both Darwin and Alice Springs ( played in Darwin wet season) turning pitches, and the ACT a turning pitch. We need domestic pitches where spinners operate from both ends at times, to give Aussie batters match pressure where playing spin is difficult.
Smart thinking 99.

Weatherald and Jewell have gone cheaply on a green pitch at Bellerive. I am concerned Weatherald does not have the temperament for Test cricket, as since his big '24/25 he can barely buy a run. Doubt he even has a 50 in any format.

Report from Bellerive.

Tas 5-162 on a wicket doing a bit against South Aus.

Webster out pulling for 13. He isn’t batting well enough for Tests. He hit 2 thunderous 4s - a pull and an off drive.

Silk looked awful, but has batted himself in. Doran looking good.

Doggett not looking like a Test bowler in his second spell. Looked good in first.

Impressed with 24 yo old Scott - who I think is an all rounder.

Doggett takes some late wickets. Now has 4 poles. South Aus on top after Doran’s dismissal.

Kuhnemann on 15 after lofted 4.

Tas 9- 206.

Scott’s bowling has improved. He has 3 wickets this innings, as he induces an edge falling just short of slips.

Tim Ward starting again after losing Weatherald and Jewell. I am concerned Weatherald does not have the temperament for Test cricket, as since his big '24/25 he can barely buy a run. Doubt he even has a 50 in any format.
Jake W made 24 off 32 balls on a sticky wicket.
