Summer of Cricket thread

Did you and your TC member mates go to Kangaroo Bay Oval yesterday Jon. Huge interest by me in Louis Smith, Zac Curtain, LNS, Raf MacMillan (TAS) Chris Tremain, Riley Kingsell, Brock Fitton (Blues) Imho other than Tremmers and LNS, all are exciting prospects for Aussie cricket.

Tigers in the box seat to win up in Sydney with a massive score yesterday, boosted by the three tons, the biggest Chaudary, what is his history DC?
Caught 4 overs before lunch at Kangaroo Bay for second eleven, Baggers.

Ran into the Crick Tas CEO who filled me in on Chaudary.

Of Indian heritage. He has played first class Indian cricket in India. He wanted to move to Aus and managed to get into Queensland, where he was fringe for their Shield team. Then recruited to Tas.

Many Cricket Tas members want more players of Indian heritage to draw Indians as spectators.

Told the CEO about your visit to Tas. He said you are the perfect Cricket Tas Member - get moving down here. He guaranteed no waiting period for your Crick Tas membership!

Thanks a bunch giving the prod to attend. It is very high quality cricket! View excellent at ground level behind bowler's arm.

Scoreboard a bit low on info, but New are 3 - 110ish. Couldn't identify bowlers, but the CEO filled me in on another Indian recruit from Vic, who was on the cusp of their Shield squad. He was bowling spin. He hails from Punjab.

There was red haired spinner from the other end, who I didn't know. I also could not recognise the pace bowler. Billy Stanlake picked up a ball on the boundary a metre from where I was standing.

Davie has made runs and is still in.

I'm heading back in a min to meet up with other Crick Tas members who you've met.

Then again I'd not be surprised to see a Blues collapse this morning.
No collapse with a couple of next gens Lachlan Shaw and Ryan Hicks taking the Blues to lunch with only two back in the sheds. Both these guys are coming off big club tons so are in fine fettle.

I reckon this may be a CA wish too, in fact I say for certain as it lost a reported $3m with the early last Test finish, this is on top of a huge $60m loss last season.

Decent partnership between Gilles and Davies im second 11 game.

Neil- Smith generating bounce. Lovely side on action.

(bumping) I asked you soccer boys this the other day.
No. It's mainly developing countries who are selected to host. We join Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Puerto Rico, Rwanda and Uzbekistan as host countries in 2026.

In the only previous editions in 2024, the host countries were Algeria, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. Most of the competing countries were developing countries also. The Saudis actually hosted two tournaments during the 2024 edition, and felt so honoured by being selected that the Saudi Arabia national team played in neither.

Tigers with a big chance now after three quick wickets after lunch and needing to remove arguably the weakest tail in the comp. Blues succumbing to scoreboard pressure and those two youngsters showing their inexperience. Josh Philippe the only specialist bat left to avoid defeat.

You watch Gilkes will ton up on an easy batting deck now and then replace the dead in the water Ollie Davies in the Blues side. Gilkes HAS NEVER averaged much above @ 30 FC. I'd like to see another guy that is scoring big runs in the lower comps promoted instead.

Big Blues partnership in second 11.

Now 3-224. Gilkes imperious.

I’ve nearly been hit by the ball in Gilkes and Davies boundaries!

Not sure if I’m watching Kieran Elliot? But Tas pace bowlers Neil- Smith and Stanlake have played Shield cricket a lot.

Gilkes has done well.

Tigers on the verge of hammering the useless Blues by an innings and then some. I blame our under par pace attack for not only this loss but our entire season and the last one. Chris Tremain comes thru this game unscathed he has to be recalled, then there is the forgotten Jack Nisbet and I wonder if they'd gamble on debuting Charlie Anderson. I'd be tickled pink if they did. Also Ollie Davies has to go. Has had two poor seasons on the trot.

Blues have not lost a wicket in second 11, since 12.15pm.

Is a batting belter now, if Gilkes can score a ton at a little over a run a ball. Joel Davies may come in for his brother, bats in the middle order and is a competent left arm slow bowler.

J Davies is batting now. - a lefty.

They’ve cramped him with 1st stump line on short ball a bit.
