Oh well i was right once again in picking Veneziale thrashing the Socceroo's. Played off the park for most of the game and very weak in the final 3rd. Hate to see what Colombia will do to Australia in 3 days times.

That was my impression also. Would like to see his passing stats.
Also thought Trewin struggled, Irankunda largely anonymous and his corners poor, Goodwin ineffective, Elder good corners, McGree improved the team when introduced, Beach excellent.
31 from 37

live I thought we just bipassed the midfield unless there was acres of space. In the second half he had some good moments keeping the ball under pressure

Not a chance nowadays for me let alone going to watch a Aplw game today instead.
From bad to worse.
Guarantee you think that because of how shit Liverpool Women are at the moment lol

We're a different team when Bos, Irvine, Circati are in.

One massive issue in the 11 was we had some newbies but also core regulars who didn't step up at all. Miller and O'Neill are kidding themselves.

The build up system of centre back to wing back and up the line needs variation. We have to try it up the middle. O'Neill showed a tidy ball to Al Hassan. More of that.

To be fair the Goodwin experiment worked in attack. If Okon had covered more ground it would've been alright in defence.

Trewin looked really shaky out there. Toure and Irankunda looked alright early. We were much less compact in attack than the last two windows. Akin to under Arnold where every pass was a long hope ball.

Beach excellent,Trewin just adequate and Okon-Engstler looked lost at times. However being debutants the latter two surely should be cut some slack.Sure it was a friendly but your first game in NT colours would be nerve racking. For a team in transition Venezuela looked very good with some excellent passing moves and ability to easily play through our press.Number 11 was a very good player and gave Goodwin the run around.
Yes Beach was outstanding and MOTM .He is in rare form and if he keeps this up will the future Socceroo No 1.However those who shit on our present No 1 and make disparaging remarks about him when he has played 100 internationals appear to have an agenda-possibly still hating on him because of Langerak not being selected or just being putting all the blame on him for the loss to Argentina in R16 of the 2022 WC.Well they are entitled to their opinions but to dismiss an older player's ability by pontificating that he wouldn't have made those saves is hypothetical bullshit.

See our better moments come from quick ball play. This is being coached out of them by Arnold and Popovic but they have this at their clubs.

There were many moments where the instinct is to go forward but then the lazy back pass offloading occurs.

I'm sure it would've been different had something been on the line but the level of care in this game was atrocious.

We definitely looked more balanced with McGree and Elder on. Perhaps Trewin was more at time at RCB.

I'm sorry Okon-Engstler doesn't get any slack. He was brought in off a handful of Sydney FC and Benfica B games. I expect only prodigies to be brought in off that amount of game time.

If he isn't showing more than a player like nisbet (probably alot less to be honest) he shouldn't be in the team.

Next game

......... Ryan
Metcalfe Degenek Burgess Rowles Elder
....Balard Devlin
McGree Toure Goodwin

Metcalfe to roam where with Balard to cover. McGree and Goodwin to cut in and Elder to overlap.

Okon enfuritates me at the moment. Self entitled trotting along one or two failed fancy moves. This is the problem when young players like this get rewarded for nothing.

He and others are fine prospects and need to be kept out until the next cycle. Trewin and Okon need to bide their time.

Nisbet filling the spaces last night would've been ideal. When you watch Nisbet only he doesn't stop moving. Wonderful football brain with positioning and awareness. The Dutch fans still can't believe he's playing at their level.

I agree with you on this. Apart from Beach (who may get the 3rd keeper spot) the other debutants aren't ready at this stage of their careers. No need to write them off completely, I hope their time will come soon, but not for this world cup.

So glad for Beach. A relieving performance where now have 4 keepers.

Langerak tried diving for Australia but the ball went through him against Brazil or that faux dive Iraq away is one of the weirdest I've seen. Shame as I really liked the guy but it's we Mariners supporters who can support everyone while some MV fans give their players error immunity and would ideally pick a national team from their own stock only.

Exactly that. They'll be good for these experiences and I wouldn't say that we've wasted time or opportunity by exposing them now but I think this was the last game for participation awards and now it's really time to bring in the big names and stick with it. This should make squad selection a little narrower.
