The next game is going to be a lot tougher. I want to see how attack a bit more, we have the ability, was just some decisions in the final-third which lacked cohesion but we are very clinical with our opportunities. The USA game will be much more free-flowing than this game was.

I actually thought Turkey attacked better against us than USA in the friendly.

Head to head isn’t a thing when there’s four teams tied. It’s written as “most points from the matches between the teams concerned”, so a 4 way tie is just… the group.

I said that going into the game, Turkey just go down the wings constantly and it's 90% of the time ends up centrally for a long-shot.

The 28 shots stat for Turkey is misleading as they just shoot from distance constantly in every-game. 4-7 on target is more important. As soon as Irankunda went off we didn't really have an outlet anymore so that also skews our chances created.

I think @Alex M meant a draw during both the USA v Aus, and TUR v PAR games. That would indeed be all four tied on four points, so would be sorted by overall goal difference, then by overall goals scored. Then fair play points. If tied after that, we would go through in second place, with USA on top, and Turkey in 3rd

Socceroos would go through in second place because the tiebreaker that comes after fair play points is FIFA rankings and our win over Turkey moves us up four places to 23rd in the world whilst they go down five to 27th.

Yes, we are already in second place on the rankings in our group. I don’t think they’ll be using updated rankings to do so though, just what the current rankings are

I think making use of the current rankings sounds about right since the next FIFA rankings update won't come until the conclusion of the World Cup.

I edited rather than replying - but FIFA never update the rankings mid tournament - though via the website it appears they are! The victory over Turkey is already reflected on https://inside.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/men

FIFA are making use of live rankings which show how the rankings change after matches are played but the updates aren't set in stone until the dates they specify.

Yeah I was having a look - I can’t find anything specifically other than “the most recently published edition of the FIFA Rankings.”

Depends if they consider the updates on the website as “published” or not
