I actually liked Terry Greedy - very intelligent keeper - and taught my son at school. My favourite as a kid was Ron Corry - probably because I was a kid and could see what he could do despite his size which was about the height I ended up.As for pure talent - Robert Zabica has to be waaaaay up there also.
I know.
I think Bosnich was our best ever shot stopper but he had some issues with the ball at his feet and with his distribution. When they banned keepers picking up the ball when passed back by a team mate Bosnich struggled to adapt.I'm judging them purely on my obsessive observation of all Australian keepers.
I rate Schwarzer way beyond any of the others. In fact, I'd rate Schwarzer as our greatest Socceroo. (Timmy next on impact; Harry next on talent - although Mooy is up there also.)
I can't rate Bosnich among this company because he never did well against top teams - like Ryan and Schwarzer did. Most of Bozza's matches were against minnows.
I played against Terry Greedy (I think) in a Central Coast O35s match a few years back. Our keeper got injured so I went into goals and almost immediately had to pull off a flying save from a diving header.I actually liked Terry Greedy - very intelligent keeper - and taught my son at school. Beach or Devenish Meares have the inside running. Petraic Cullen also worth watching and I like Stephen Hall.As a GK aficionado who do you see replacing Maty as first choice in the medium term.
I have Gauci, Peraic-Cullen and Hall as the three in four years time. Plenty of time though for others. I agree about Izzo, I can't see him at the Asian Cup in front of Gauci and Beach.Beach or Devenish Meares have the inside running. Petraic Cullen also worth watching and I like Stephen Hall.
I suspect it's over for Izzo.
I always worry about what the true story is about D-Meares nickname. You keep like you've had sevenish beers.I was a Gauci fan but I feel it's passed him by.
Beach, Peraic-Cullen, D-Meares and Hall are the immediate future.
He’s explained this in an interview. Originally people took the piss out of him by saying he keeps like he’s drank “sevenish beers”, but Sky Blues fans turned it into a humorous nickname and he loves it.I always worry about what the true story is about D-Meares nickname. Harrison Devenish-Meares, Patrick Beach and Steven Hall definitely.Beach, Peraic-Cullen, D-Meares and Hall are the immediate future.
As long as it was the fans and not his teammates from Rockdale. He’s explained this in an interview. Originally people took the piss out of him by saying he keeps like he’s drank “sevenish beers”, but Sky Blues fans turned it into a humorous nickname and he loves it.
