Random former players (NSL/A-league) that for some reason you still remember

Some of West Adelaide’s import signings back in the day were surely a pisstake from somebody.

I remember we signed these two Brazilians - I think one was called Bigu and the other one can’t remember. They must’ve played for their local village or something and we got scammed by some fraud agent in Brazil. This was before the internet ofcourse.

I also think Ayrton Andrioli hadn’t played in years and randomly bumped into Raul Blanco overseas and he was signed (though he turned out ok).

There was an Alex Moreira around in the 90s at City. He was Brazilian but was terrible.
 
Gary Meier, ex Olympic custodian. Good quality keeper, could catch the ball (unlike today's keepers) and positioning was outstanding. Great man with a kind attitude and a kind guiding hand to youth keepers.

Yeah it was weird. He went to Belgium, didn’t get a look in so went on loan to WU but he failed the medical as they discovered he had a heart condition.

So he had surgery and now has a value from a cow’s heart in his body.

And is now at Canberra Olympic (for now), unless I’m mixing him up with his brother
