Perry Park - Olympic Application

Perry Park upgrade won't be anything substantial, I very much doubt it will take it to a level where it is suitable for A League Mens, e.g., minimum of 10,000 seating capacity. It will be an improvement for grass roots usage.

And of course the improvements made to Sunshine Coast, Townsville and Cairns stadiums, while ostensibly for the Olympic football, will primarily be used for rugby league, with no real legacy there for football.

Forget the Olympics then. We have a Federal election coming up and a Womens Asian cup in a year's time including in Qld. Surely an upgrade to Perry Park for a training venue for some of the teams could be on the cards. The current Federal Minister for sport is also the Minster for Women, Perry Park is in her electorate. The Opposition Leader is also a Queenslander whose electorate office is 30 mins from Perry Park.

Work would need to start soon as it starts on March 1st next year.

I'm pretty sure Perry Park had money spent on it to upgrade it as a training venue for the Womens World Cup in 2023. Change rooms and playing surface was pretty much all it covered, I think.

Brisbane Roar have been working hard in the background to get something out of Perry Park.

As disappointing as the Olympic announcement was, I'd say it's still a case of 'watch this space'.
any rumours about how successful the work in the background is?

Let's hope so. It would save Brisbane Roar.
its puzzling does it really matter what the puny loss this is to the Bakrie fam in their portfolio..
They don't seem to think it needs saving after all these lame years let it run as it stands right now.
They sure are not the networth they used to be many years ago but around 2.5B strange investment outlook.

Redlands United who play at the Showgrounds at Cleveland were once a very progressive little football club around 5 or 6 years ago.

They had plans in place to develop their own small stadium with proper enclosed grandstands and other facilities. Their aim was to become a member of any prospective national second tier division and eventually evolving into an A League club. They really had some ambitious people at the club including some very well known technical and coaching staff.

But they probably got ahead of themselves a little there and are currently living in a more realistic situation of being a leading Queensland Premier League side. Still a very vibrant little club though with a large junior player base.

With a Redlands City FC playing out of this aforementioned potential Shoreline ground development, Redlands United at Cleveland and their near neighbours Capalaba Bulldogs FC up the road the Redlands area of Brisbane looks okay for a football future in my opinion.

My Mum lives in Redlands. Which divisions do they play in? I don’t see them in QLD NPL1 or NPL2

Redlands United play in the Queensland Premier League and their new local neighbours Redlands City who were only founded in 2020 play at Metro League level but they are really more of a small junior orientated community club rather than a club focused on the higher reaches of the Queensland football pyramid.

A chat with Cavallucci. Perry Park talk starts at 32 minutes:

4 minutes to say "we are working through the Perry Park redevelopment and are happy with our progress - but there are still a few months of work required before we will have an understanding where it is heading".

Or that is what I heard in it anyway.

Pretty much. I should've put that as a disclaimer, the first 4 minutes is just padding. The only thing I got from it afterwards was that he's really positive of a good outcome, whenever that is 🙄

I’ve listened to about half this podcast, in different areas, and RC’s answers to the questions posed are just long rambles with next to zero substance.
