Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

South Melbourne women continuing to bolster the playing list ahead of NPLW Victoria season 2026 getting underway on February 13th with five new signings announced over the past week including Mindy Barbieri and Geo Candy, who bring A-League Women experience to the forward line and between the sticks respectively.
Ive heard tinglings of a rumour about a womens Australia Cup being spoken about for 2027 or 2028 and being announced at the launch of this year's Womens Asian Cup ... I have no visibility on the womens game but have you heard anything?

My concern is for the second OFC Pro League hub in Port Moresby, PNG. You will have high humidity and weather in the low 30s. That will make playing in those weather conditions far more difficult.

Starting to worry how we're going to do ofc with npl later in the year when games begin to clash. Atm the only players that I know of left who aren't in nz are javi and dovison. Would have thought we'd try to have a squad of 30 to cover. Could gave even registered some young players in the u23 roster to be able to fit more in senior roster

Surely we will be signing more players in the coming weeks?

Judt too bloody quiet and the any quality out there is being snapped up even by teams like GC and StAlbans...

if view is to sign players cyt from AL squads at end of transfer window then ok perhaps its viable we bolster, if not then what qualitybare ee expecting to be lefr over when its all been snapped up elsewhere..

From the recruiting this NPL season looks to be much much more competitive than previous ones.

Seemed worrysome till now lets hope our obvious complacency isnt costly.

Looks like conditions wont be great, hopefully we can zip the ball around quickly and dont come out half asleep again.

Great way to end the first OFC circuit series in Auckland with 2 wins from 2 matches. Healthy goal difference achieved as well.

Sinisa needs to work a bit more on defensive structures. PNG Hekari were poor, but they had 1-2 good chances to score. We just need to be more clean in the back with the ball and our passing.

It was importabt for Swibel to get into the scoresheet to build his confidence up. The second half substitutions of Cocks and Lackay helped with the attack forward.

Players should be coming back on Sunday before likely to be leaving for Port Moresby on Thursday/Friday for the second OFC hub. We face South Island United, Bula FC, and Vanuatu United in Port Moresby. Another 3 wins would set us up nicely with approximately one-third of the OFC Pro League season already played.

I predicted Preston, returning to Avondale would have been my next guess. The money must be astronomical.
