At a minimum we need to beat one of either Preston or Oakleigh to stay in the hunt. 2 defeats would end it.

Not the case, If we win the other 4 that means Georgies cant catch us (as one of out matches is against them) and (presuming Melbourne lose to Preston on their catch up) they cant catch us either as one of our matches will be against them.

We just need some form going into finals.

Looking at Prestons remaining games, we are the last danger game for them, they will smash the teams they play in the remaining games after us, they could even push for top 3. They have Bentleigh, Gully, Thunder and Altona all at home. With just dandy city away who will be out of contention by then.

The most vulnerable sides are City and Heidelberg.

This is why it is so important that we defeat both Preston and Oakleigh over the next 2 weeks. It builds confidence, creates momentum and sends a message to the rest of the top 6 teams.

Looking at Prestons remaining games, we are the last danger game for them, they will smash the teams they play in the remaining games after us, they could even push for top 3. They have Bentleigh, Gully, Thunder and Altona all at home. With just dandy city away who will be out of contention by then.

We wont see another chance at Preston dropping points if they manage to avoid defeat at Lakeside. We need to beat them given we have tough away matches to Oakleigh, Melbourne City Youth and CS George Cross coming up.

I am always wary of relegation bound sides in the final 2-3 rounds... Preston dont have the cakewalk it looks like on paper.

Will not get more than 1500. I know at least a dozen ppl that are out for one reason or another. Crowd will be 50/50 split.

Yeah its hard to replicate last season or the Australia cup the year before.. Its been done now, its not a decade of anticipation its just another derby.
Crowd would have been better if we had a better season to date but Preston will travel to Lakeside , especially their historical and antiquities display society.
We'll get a bit of bump to our normal crowd (at least enough to replace the one missing because its a Saturday and they have other commitments) .

You know what, I agree.... Not having Bonada is gonna leave a big gap for them .... If we get 3 points we could be pushing for top 4 again...

Thats probably the least factor why the crowd will be shit.

Track how many games are on Saturday at the same time. I know 5 guys whose kids play at state league clubs, they will obviously go watch their kids, i know a further 3 blokes who volunteer at state league clubs and got to travel to woop woop.

All of this is out the equation if the game was on Sunday, the crowd would have at least matched last years.

750 ppl each on either grand stand will be the crowd thereabouts.

If this bullshit no night games policy didnt exist we could have been a bit adventurous and gone for the Thursday night.

Saturday 3.15pm is an awful time. It makes it difficult to attract a good crowd. It is as if FV just do not care about building up well attended fixtures. This match at Saturday 7.30pm would have attracted at least an additional 1,000-1,500 patrons. Just look at what FV has done with the Dockerty Cup Final - 2.30pm on a Saturday!
