NPL 2026

Bentleigh Greens in signing frenzy. Katsakis recruiting heavily for upcoming season. Alex Hird from knights the latest acquisition.

There was another club I saw listed as UNFINANCIAL as well - I can't remember their name off the top of my head. Had a camel in the logo. Actually, come to think of it, I think they are a Heidelberg as well....
Yep another Heidelberg

Forgot that State League 6 and 7 change was happening this season. Thought it was going to be next.

No Murray United though :( Shame for Riverina - I am under the impression they did apply...
Ah, missed this on State League 7 - so still hope for now

Confirmation of this (at least the NPL level) by Capital Football after their declaration of leagues released yesterday

Two things interesting to note:
  • ANU listed as Decided not to participate in NPL Men in 2026 rather than Relegated from CPL Men to Capital League Opens Division 1 despite not having a full youth program in CF NPL / Junior League, one of the new criteria for being part of NPL according to Capital Football
  • Gungahlin United are required to respond to existing issues already raised by CF separately as part of an ongoing compliance requirement - which is the financial stuff going on, so could still very possibly be a 9 club NPL next season
Any word on Gungahlin? There are a stack of rumours floating around but nothing concrete.

They still haven't scheduled their trials.
Apparently denied access to ACT sportsgounds as they haven't paid for some time and are up to $200k in debt for just ground use.

Heard everything from they are going into liquidation and are kicked out of all comps to just the mens being kicked out of NPLM.

Also heard that that the womens teams got told to go home the other night as there wouldn't be a team next year.

Rumours everywhere but nothing but silence from Capital Football.

Interesting timing:

Interesting to see if Capital Football will go ahead with their 10 team NPL now or keep it to 9.

If they go 10 - do they allow Yoogali back in? Or do they bring up from CPL? Based off the exemptions and such, the next clubs in line are:

6th placed of 8: Canberra White Eagles
7th placed of 8: Wagga City Wanderers - removed from senior Capital Football pathway
8th placed of 8: West Canberra Wanderers

Logic suggests they'll go with White Eagles, but if West Canberra get back in the top flight, then this process is even more corrupt than we thought.
