NPL 2026

Looks like CCM wont be competing in the NPL NSW competition. Does that mean one of the relegated teams will stay up instead?
 
Controversial take.

Good Riddance, these Academies rape and pillage our NPL clubs (United, Marconi, Blacktown, Rockdale etc) from under 9s to 18s, sometimes a year in advance, and we get nothing out of it.

They always like to dangle that A-League Carrot, and that the grass is greener on the other side, and clearly it’s not. Parents are to blame as well.

Now you have 200+ kids without a club, and many with tales between their legs asking the club they left to come back.

Hopefully Bulls, Sydney FC & WSW are next to fall.

good question.

NPL 1 & 2 in NSW has now both 15 teams.

They might promote 2 teams up in 2027 from NPL 2 and not Relegate anyone from NPL 1 and make it this system in NSW.

NPL - 16 Teams
NPL1 - 16 Teams
NPL2 - 14 Teams

They seriously need to start and open a pyramid for all clubs to relegated and promoted within the divisions

Doesn’t have to be 7 state leagues like they do in Victoria but like 3/4 won’t be bad

You have big clubs in the Illawarra that would easily play npl football,

The association comps are strong St George, eastern suburbs have quality players

At the very least you guys should move to 3 up 3 down from NPL .. It made the back end of the season an "every match counts" situation down here...
 
Personally every year olympic losses 10 to 15 players from 13 s to 18. S

i dont want any of these academy clubs
Every time we play these teams refs always give them all the 50 50 .

Honestly the teams aren't even really competing in the FNSW system, only Sydney FC did respectably (weren't at risk of relegation). Bulls had no reason not to be promoted (the first team were top in week 19 but only picked up 5 points in their last 11 games, meanwhile the U20 managed to score 14 in a single game and their only competition past the halfway mark was the Jets academy). Wanderers would've been relegated if they hadn't brought down a bunch of A-League players to keep them up, or if NSW relegated more teams like VIC does. Meanwhile CCM plain and simply choked in the playoff. If you aren't here to compete, then don't bother showing up.

FNSW could also do the funniest thing and unrelegate Bonnyrigg for this season. Depends if they could sort out the League Two schedule this quickly or not.

Its the same down here in Victoria.

Football Victoria even allowed Western Utd NPL team into the NPL season even though they have been placed in hibernation by APL !

The relegation battle was actually decent this year, but I agree on both fronts. I remember having this conversation before - it's really a question of whether the District FAs are actually interested, and then what purpose the representative clubs have. Other than that, it really wouldn't be difficult.

They were allowed back because they have sorted all of it out and were re-admitted to the league months ago. If this was not the case, they wouldn't have been allowed at NPL level

Thats what I dont get... It was reported that FA has removed their club licensing and as far as Im aware for ALL VIC NPL competitions (junior or senior) the participating clubs have to adhere to FA national club licensing regulations... how can they without a license?

Did they pay for two licenses Aleague AND FA ?

    • Adherence to Football Australia's (FA) national club licensing regulations.

I've asked this before but didn't get an answer, can't the kids leave for any other team for free as well?

It's terrible that 200+ kids are without a club, but that's not confined to just academy teams. Gungahlin just dumped 1,300 kids!

I don't think that's correct to be fair. At the time of that decision, the ATO was trying to wind up WMG that controlled Western Utd. The ATO situation was only resolved very recently.

I don’t see why not, everything will probably fall under Football NSW anyway

The associations will be pissed they can’t ramp up their junior fees so their clubs can benefit from it

Combine the west comps, eastern suburbs, Bankstown district, St George, shire, eastern suburbs and the north

i'm not sure how it works, i dont think it can happen during the season, as they are under contract the club would need to release them.

i know we lose up to like 5-10 players per grade due to these academies.

it is terrible, especially for the local kids.

Ok. So the point is, and the end of a season (and out of contract) these players can move anywhere they like? Is that not like any club that loses players who aren't contracted?

I'm just trying to understand the digs specifically at academies for this, because I'm not seeing it at the moment.

I'm not sure about the movements during the season, maybe someone with kids in those age brackets can provide that info.

issue i have is and so does our club (spoken about in our AGM) they negotiate 1 year in advance and parents keep quiet about it and then we as a club need to find a whole new squad.

i rather WSW or Syd FC bring up kids all the way to youth and stop poaching talent.

i think it was last year we lost almost an entire under 12s team.

Academies can fuck off. i Rather sell our players directly to Europe and get coin out of it,
