NPL 2026

In Victoria - Preston and Heidelberg are clear favourites.

If South can sort out its goal scoring options, we'll be top 4 as well. Top 2 finish is out of equation due to the overlap with the OFC Professional League. Best we'll do is 3rd.

In terms of Avondale, it depends on how they replace so many departed players. There's been a mass walkout of quality players and coaching staff to Preston.

Recently promoted teams like George Cross and Melbourne City U20 team are likely to get relegated.
Hmmm not so sure... Preston were the "paper premiers" last year too and as for Bergers, the news JA is leaving will sour their players after being asked to run throuhgnwalls for the bloke..... As for choakleigh who have they signed of note?

Not too sure about that. They ended up where I predicted.

As for Bergers, that’s a good point. It’s like he cajoled the board to assist in improving his resume.

How did it help Alexandros?

Liston Diaz and Thomas Manos the only ones confirmed at this stage. I’d assume they’ll throw money around again after a disappointing season last year

He got them a championship and took them to the Australia cup final. I think they may be in a spot of bother when he departs.

motive may well be that some of them may move with him.. there are many players there that can transition over quite easily.. you are right about the aftermath if they arent looking to have contingencies in place already it wont be pretty!

To be fair they were a solid squad to begin with.. havnt lost much and brought in a solid keeper and a player that performed very well in a mediocre side so its a step up for the weasles! Avondale is way more of a question mark.

No one thought Preston were winning it in there first year back... I didn't see anyone rate them above 3rd.
Very different expectations this year though both NPL and beyond... it will be absolute disaster after all this cash splashed if they failed to perform... on paper they look damn well capable of going all the way, geling on field is another story though and time will tell.

NSW (No specific order bar the top 2)
Apia
Rockdale
Sydney United
Sutherland
Marconi
Wolves

Relegation (hopefully Bankstown and Hurstville Zagreb promoted)
Olympic
Sd raiders

1. APIA
2. Marconi
3. Sutherland
4. Sydney United
5. Rockdale
6. Blacktown

Relegated
SD Raiders
UNSW or Olympic

Bankstown for promotion.

Ryan Scott is the difference maker this time. Preston have been plagued with shit keepers for a number of years. I think they're ready to genuinely challenge with him and the signings made.

As for Heidelberg its going to come down to if they repeat the comical mistakes Bentleigh made post JA which ultimately led to relegation. A lot of those players seem tied to the coach, so when he goes they probably do as well, it usually ends up ugly, we were no different post Chris Taylor and almost went down as well.

Probably our only saving grace with Esteban was that nobody was really alligned with him, even Bonada who is the same nationality seemed relieved to see the back of him.

Sydney Olympic will definitely be ruing the loss of Ali Auglah ahead of NPL season 2026 but I don't think they'll get relegated come season's end because they have a strong squad and should improve on their mid-table finish from last season. I'd say it's more likely that SD Raiders and UNSW spend one season in NPL then drop back down to FNSW League One immediately after.

They've released their whole squad and it will be a youthful team this season.

No money left in the caravan.

Good point. I wonder where Esteban is now?

Strong squad? They let go of most of their squad and signed kids. They’ll be lucky to stay up.

for me the NPLWA

Perth Azzuri
Olympic Kingsway
Bayswater City

will be the 3 contenders for the title

Dark horse will be Perth Redstar

relegation battle
Dainella , Balcatta , Fremantle City

and then the Glory NPL are unknown , but they have seasons were they have nearly relegated and then finished in the top 4 so its very hard to predict them.
