NPL 2025

:) Sure... But also a bit of a genuine question here... what is the crowd like at the Palace? .... are Marconi as a club resonating with the local demographic? I think the "old" and the "new" need to be engaged with to grow our clubs moving forward.
Honking, same as APIA. Kids in club tracksuits & girlfriends.

Marconi get an active support group that lasts half a season before disbanding every few years.

What's the go with Knights fans, they just give up? I watched the game tonight against Oakleigh and it was like a graveyard.

I remember a few years ago the active used to stand under the commentary scaffolding and you would hear them throughout the game giving the opposition shit

Usual spot has been unavailable all year due to works on the ground, when they go they stand at the back of the grandstand near the corporate boxes

The Carlton experiment under "old Juve stalwart" Lou Sticca tried to combine all that, along with the "mainstream" but couldnt captivate the masses or the italian community in its short time.. perhaps with more time couldve worked but their figures werent anything standout while they lasted.. from memory (as expected) their highest crowd was vs SMFC at which the vast majority were travelling supporters and their home games against interstate opposition was not much over a thousand ppl.

I remember Carlton crowds doubling after half time with ppl waiting to get in for free lol.

It would have been more interesting if we got a club like Victory back then, think it would have been more succesful, granted they wouldnt have been able to lure the Greek community.

Although I do know of some who jumped onboard, probably you also wouldn’t get Italians who had adopted Collingwood, Essendon etc afl teams supporting a team called Carlton

Yea as I’ve said before, if Carlton were Melbourne victory, northern spirit were Sydney fc, parramatta were western Sydney wanderers who know what would have happened.

I believe I once saw an early early nsl era proposal for a club called Melbourne victory somewhere on the internet

If Carlton were Victory then I wouldn't have joined them haha. My number 1 most despised club. Nothing against their players or fans, but the AFL club was a bunch of corrupt, cheating, dodgy pricks. But they get to keep the trophies...

Alot of og Victory supporters who we're around during the creation, believe Victory is the successor to the Carlton team in the nsl days. There's proof and history supporting this if you really look for it.

The Carlton team is fine, full of legends. But any Blues admin can get stuffed.

I mean to say it would have been an interesting alternate history if they’d brought in Melbourne victory, Sydney fc and western Sydney wanderers instead of Carlton, northern spirit and parramatta power.

Although I concede it would have been harder to attract the numbers of supporters they did without the complete relaunch of the sport, there probably would have been less casual supporters of traditional clubs who made the switch etc

I in no way suggest they’re the same club, but I know of Italians who supported both
