Matilda's abroad

FA Cup scores:
  • West Ham 1–2 Brighton
  • Arsenal 3–0 Bristol
  • Chelsea 2–1 Man United (AET)
  • Liverpool 2–1 Everton
Spurs play LCL tomorrow morning at 6:30am AEDT.

Charli Grant will likely make her return to play for Spurs but there'll be no Clare Hunt and Alanna Kennedy as both will be in Western Australia to assemble for Matildas camp.
I do wonder if Charli will be in Australia to watch the Asian Cup during the international break.

No game time for Hayley Raso, who was not in the matchday squad altogether for Eintracht Frankfurt in their 3-0 Frauen-Bundesliga win over SC Freiburg.

Charli Grant on the bench for Spurs in their Women's FA Cup fifth round game against London City Lionesses. Clare Hunt at Matildas camp for the Women's Asian Cup and not in the matchday squad altogether for Spurs. Alanna Kennedy also with the Tillies and not in the matchday squad altogether for London City Lionesses.

BREAKING: Azzurri captain, club and country legend Cristiana Girelli, has joined Bay FC on loan.

Could this mean Annalise Rasmussen finally gets registered and features for Juventus?

Cristiana Girelli only on loan at Bay FC through August so there's every chance that Annalise Rasmussen gets registered for this season before Juventus either loan her out elsewhere or unfortunately delist her come season's end.

Yeah it’s probably too big a step going straight to Juve. I hope they loan her elsewhere in Europe though rather than have her go back to CCM. She needs somewhere decent though, since she’d tear apart most European leagues and while it’s amazing to see her score, she doesn’t get much development out of playing in say Austria, the Czech Republic or Switzerland (thinking of countries near Italy).

I think Juventus may well loan Annalise Rasmussen out to another Serie A Women side since it will benefit her development and also let her get a feel for the conditions, but hopefully she doesn't end up just returning to Central Coast Mariners as it means she'll only be regressing in the prime of her career.

Maybe Parma? They’re only three points off relegation but they’ve only scored nine goals all season. Sassuolo is another possibility as they only have 12 plus she’d link up with two Aussies (Jacynta Gala and former Mariners teammate Jess Nash), which would establish Sassuolo as the Aussiest club in Italy with Cristian Volpato on the men’s team. I think she could do wonders at a lot of teams but I’m just thinking of who really needs a striker the most.

A club in Liga F would be interesting, but the only foreigners they seem to sign (outside Atléti, Barça and Madrid) are Latinos (though that opens the door for Izzy Gomez to move there as she’s Hispanic). We don’t currently have any Aussies playing there (the last to do so was Hayley Raso at Real Madrid).

The Première Ligue is a possibility too but likewise French clubs (other than Lyon, Paris FC and PSG) seem to only sign Francophone players, either from France itself or French-speaking African and European countries. Currently Nantes are having a really good season and are second ahead of PFC and PSG (Fleury are fourth and also ahead of PSG), and Nantes need more goals to make up for their leaky defence so maybe there? Fleury are great defensively (only 11 conceded) but need more goals so maybe there too?

Again, plenty of options for a great player like Razz. She could fit at so many teams, I’m just not sure who’d wanna replace their striker.

I doubt that she'll move to a Liga F side because the jump in quality from Serie A Women is too high but if she's able to adapt to the intensity then it should pave the way for her to become a regular starter in European competition and possibly for the Matildas also.

Yeah I doubt it too. Liga F’s top teams are too good and the poor teams are pretty shit. Would be cool to see an Aussie play in Spain again some day though.
