Matilda's abroad

I think it’s far too early to be writing Rosengard off, they are just a couple of wins off mid table.
Either way it’s a good move for Izzy in her quest to play in the World Cup next year.
It's still early days as Damallsvenskan is only at matchday 11 of 26 but definitely it's a good move for Izzy Gomez to improve her chances of making the Matildas playing list for the 2027 Women's World Cup and she could well make her club debut as early as this week.

Oh yeah I wasn’t implying that they’re officially cooked, but they’re in trouble so Izzy will have a big role to play in tryna get them out of their mess. They’ve declined a lot as money caught up. Their men’s team float around in the lower regional tiers of Sweden so it’s hard to compete with the big clubs these days without a really rich investor like Michelle Kang.

I could definitely see her playing their next game if she’s registered. She’ll probably be on the bench to start with but hopefully she makes a cameo. It shouldn’t be too hard to break into Rosengård’s team.

Izzy Gomez should already be registered on the Rosengard playing list as she's been assigned a jersey number and appears on their website as part of the squad though.

She could make her debut as early as this week but the Matildas website says she'll join the side from mid-July onwards which is when the midseason registration window opens so it is fairly unlikely.
I’d say that’s giving her time to move, plus the Damallsvenskan goes on a summer break in July. The NWSL is already on a summer break now but returns on 3 July, the eve of Independence Day and the first weekend of the Damallsvenskan break which ends on 25 July.

The NWSL had their midseason break at the start of June to coincide with the men's World Cup and Damallsvenskan has games this week before the league shuts down and returns for matchday 13 early games on July 25th, with the league proper starting again a week later at the end of July for matchday 12.
