I don't know what thread this goes in thread

As the title says.

To kick it off. How's that UnitedHealthCare CEO getting assassinated? I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.

Probably million people with a motive on this one.
I'll bite.

At the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th kidnappings (and murders) of the well to do was much more common. Indeed it went all the way into the 1970s by which time it was a rarity. I don't recall any since the 80s until last year. So the question is a valid one. Why did it stop and is it the beginning of a trend?

I tend to measure the safety of a country (or city) by noting as to how often locals travel down dim or dark lanes, whether the middle classes live in fortresses or not and people who use public transport. So travelling through South America you will find gated compounds with well armed security personnel. Only average or below average income use public transport. At the other end, in Japan the only compound I saw was the Imperial Palace, everyone used PT (including my CEO).

In Australia, even Malcolm Turnbull uses PT. Of course, the USA is teh USA.

So - today I just found out that late last year, Hamish and Andy finally recovered their bitcoin password from over 10 years or something like that ago and had made a competition out of it
Something similar happened to my mate. But he actually forgot had two bitcoin that he had won in a competition from a take away chain a decade or more earlier. Went from something worth a few bucks to a few 100k

hamish and andy - such wet try hard blankets for humour.
They seem that way a bit now that I’m older - but I couldn’t get enough of them in their zenith about 10-15 years ago fresh off Rove Live

Aussie comedy in general
That's how I feel these days to be honest. Unless you count Sooshi Mango and all the ethnic stuff on the socials, the last Aussie comedy I've watched and enjoyed is Utopia. But in personal experience, that is definitely a documentary, and not a comedy.

I never considered Hamish Andy as comedy just typical try hard wankas lacking any talent tbh…….legends in their own minds.
The early comedians and bright sparks of the past before political correctness had some killer laughs for us all but today it’s 0.
You can’t say this can’t say that - Oz humour was all about taking the piss on someone or topic - that had laughs for many.
Agree tsf Aussie humour is very unique as well.
Can’t beat the poms of the 70/80’s etc dam smart and their delivery is brilliant imo.

Philistines all of you.

Their gap year shows, Europe, Asia and South America, were fantastic.

Hamish and Andy are feel good fun. It's that Brooklyn 99 twat who isn't funny at all.

Have you watched Fisk?

The best recent Aussie comedy by a mile is the Big Lez Show but it's pretty niche. Free on YT.

Oooh yes how did I forget Fisk and our resident mascot Aaron Chen?!

I also don’t mind Taskmaster and Have you Been Paying Attention - but I am not counting unscripted comedies

As for Big Lez Show - many a night huddled up at uni drinking and pissing ourselves at the early seasons

Fisk is good but it's not laugh out loud funny. More a quiet chuckle.
