The Le Foot blog series on French football seemd to be going pretty good.

I promoted it on a few French football message boards.

So I thought i'd do something similar with The Game but with a wider subject matter.

"Thankyou. In the future, we would like to articles which are not so long. Something along the lines of what you would see in a Athletic or Guardian op piece...."

Fair enough.

I thought that Zimbo was maybe getting a bit fed up doing the editing of my long form pieces...

He seemed to be a little indifferent about them.

can break the article into a series? How long was it haha

superior cbs win more turnovers

there was an old theory that the best cbs don't make tackles. This was based on a myth about 2 italian cbs, Baresi and Maldini, who said "if I have to make a tackle, I've already made a mistake". There was a video I found a while ago showing that they actually tackled pretty frequently!

A modern version of the myth that elite cbs rarely tackle is that elite cbs are playing for teams that dominate possession, so you need to adjust their tackling stats accordingly. Even this appears to be wrong

elite cbs tackle a lot apparently

I just tend to prefer writing the long form pieces....

they focus on deep storytelling, immersion reporting, and in a more detailed context.

Im like that when I'm reading up on the news.

I read through newspaper articles and op ed's but like the 24 hour news cylcle on social media the narratives come and go....

Whereas with publications like The New Statesman, The Economist, Time, L'Obs and L'Express which have longer more in depth news articles the narratives seem to stick.

The information is useful, but funny to see people panic

football clubs lose money and its sustainable to do so lol

always a long line of billionaires willing to take a club off another billionaires hands

So I used to use LiveScore, but the match limit was pissing me off, so I switched over to Sofascore. I’ve always been using Sofascore but on the website. I finally downloaded the app and omg how can you not get a metaphorical mind boner seeing how detailed the stats are and how many teams and sports are on here?

I've been using Sofascore on the website for a while but finally migrated to the app so I could follow the Dub and NPL Victoria more easily on the go, and I agree that it is good to be able to have detailed stats for players, in addition to being able to follow multiple sports at the same time.

Sofascore has decent coverage but their naming convention for our leagues is garbage. Needs a good clean up and sorting.

Flashscore is my #1, very clean interface.
