Hope always dies last.
A good thing for hope to die last to be fair

For all the sports issues thr last few years have seen the rise of the championship and a league clubs forced to not pretend they are a temu epl but try playing youth. Two small steps towards better times and they may not signal any trend towards the promised land, but could be worse

Your Italian is better than mine. What does it say?
“Teams are put together by agents, even the national team. When I was coaching the Under 21, they came to me with a bag full of money: it's yours, they told me, if you call up who we say. I told them to get lost, otherwise I'd call the carabinieri. In the end, they got rid of me. If you're not a puppet, you don't belong to the system…”

been part of the fabric for decades as we know - corruption/so so much $ under the table and buying/paying foreigners at the expense of promoting locals.
Club betting scandels in the '80's.
False Accounting '04 - '10.
'06 influencing referee appointments.
'10 - '20 betting mafia/inflitration
'23 players betting scandels

and this even touching on the development issues.

The land that votes for Cicciolina - haha
Berlusconi :)

The fact that FIFA are stepping in is interesting, clearly something needs to be done considering how much money the egg ball codes get for COE’s and all.

yeah if this becomes a regularly thing that would be brilliant

wish they would also step in to help us with p and r haha

So in that presser it quotes below :

"Australia was one of just four nations, alongside Denmark, Poland and Senegal, who qualified for the men's 2022 World Cup to not have a national base."

Danes have produced some cracker players and many in top flight, Poles Lewandowski.
Helps being in EU whereas we're far far away therefore we're in way more need like we had AIS long ago.

Any help we can get especially from FIFA can only be a good thing, after all they are the most influential sporting governing body in the sport and the world.

You can only imagine the reaction in government circles when Albo read out his letter from FIFA....

The Australian poltical and media establishment have historically disdained 'soccer' to protect the dominance of homegrown codes like AFL and Rugby League. Seen as a threat to domestic sporting monopolies, 'soccer' has faced institutional gatekeeping, stadium funding hurdles, and media portrayals as un-Australian.....

I've seen Albanese with a Socceroo and a Matilda's scarf around his neck but we all know that it's a 'photo-op' thing...political costuming!!

I remember Graham Arnold famously called this out, saying that politicians love putting on the scarves for the cameras and being seen with players, only to "throw the scarf away" and forget the sport's funding needs once the tournament ends.

come off it, Albo would have shown it to Wong in their private toilet where he sits down squatting she stands up at the trough and said that kind of funding can go to my LGBTQ comrads and other war countries I've contributed for bugga sissy sockha or new hospitals/infrastructure let alone lowering tax's for the stupid plebs who didn't know where preferences go.
