It is worth noting though - this Catania late payment also was a thing prior to the 24/25 Serie C season (which they were deducted a point, which pushed them down from 4th to 5th in the league).

The main concern to me as an Australian (I'm keeping that bit separate as a Catania supporter) is that this has happened again so close to these reports of late payments at Perth, so unfortunately it's looking like smoke turning into fire, and hoping this pattern isn't a death knell for both clubs (although... I think APL is likely to prop up Perth, compared to WU for example)

That's a Salary Cap issue to me - but this probably isn't the thread for that wider discussion with what my ideas for it are.

Even then, players still left. Not so much to direct rivals (like how City takes Victory players who got rejected by Europe), but it was still a thing. True one-club men (in the literal sense of, say, Rhyan Grant, rather than, day, Pelé) have always been rare. Even Leo Messi left Barça in 2021.

You say that Frank Lampard was Chelsea, but even though he became famous there he began his career at West Ham and played nearly 150 league games for them. Saying he was a Chelsea player is like saying Wayne Rooney was a Man U player even though he was also an Everton player. Steve Gerrard I can agree with, but he ended up retiring at LA Galaxy so he’s not a true one-club man either. Paul Scholes is the only true one-club man on that list.

I would hope that they’re crafting up something behind the scenes. The fans, the PFA, high-profile players and coaches, and now high-profile foreigners are all now saying it’s time for professionalism. It certainly needs to come before pro/rel in my opinion.
