General A Leagues thread (Men and Women) 2025/26 season

This is the more interesting quote from the Bundesliga Asia-Pacific head.

“Our goal is a long-term objective, where we can use football to connect Australia and Germany – bilateral relations, but also economic trade and tourism. We see it as a much more well-rounded, sustainable, long-term approach.”
But while La Liga and Serie A were considering playing matches for competition points on foreign soil, Sim said that would not be the Bundesliga’s approach.
“The Bundesliga does not believe that is the best way to develop local football,” he said.
“We’d much rather work together with local stakeholders – Football Australia, the A-League, for example – to develop the game on a slightly more sustainable basis than necessarily bring a league game.”

If the Queensland State Government were serious about the promotion of football in the state then they should start by redeveloping Perry Park as a fully state government supported football specific stadium with a capacity of around 15,000....

There's always money found for the other football codes for their various infrastructure projects.

Brisbane and the greater SE Queensland area needs to have a properly designated small to medium football specific venue.

They are not.
Exactly....

It all very well signing 'a memorandum of understanding' with the Bundesliga but that won't achieve any real benefits for the game in Queensland in terms of actual infrastructural development and that is where Queensland football is on it's proverbial ass....

Imagine taking someone to Perry Park and mentioning the Olympics in the same breath?

How embarrassing....

I wouldn't rule Perry Park being developed - pushed by the Federal government. Perry Park is located in the electorate of Lilley, which is represented by Anika Wells, the Minister for Sport. I suspect it will be earmarked in a budget soon as part of the Fed government infrastructure spend for the Olympics.

It's not going to happen to get a 10-15,000 seat stadium. I suspect that at most it will be a tidy up and refurbishing of what's already there.

It's from a state politician. Exactly the same sort of shit that spouts from all politicians.
Probably (hopefully?) it’s the kind of thing that’s required to get the funding needed for a Perry Park upgrade.

APL have said within two weeks for 2025/26 Isuzu UTE A League Men fixture release and 2025/26 Ninja A League Women fixture release.
