Cheers, that makes the NON red for Messi even more suss then.VAR can look into any incident if they think it warrants a red - doesn't need an initial decision for/against it

I'll give them credit for winning, old man Lukaku is a true leader for them. I'll happily get on that bandwagon.I can't believe I have to support Belgium in the next round.
Balogun red card: I think this is one of those 'orange' card situations. I certainly didn't think it was a stonewall red card on the VAR replays (basically same thinking as @Beretta said) HOWEVER (see what I did there) it's a situation now where because this was overturned and given a Red Card, it begs the question on why quite a few other decisions haven't led to the same outcome throughout the tournament (such as Messi against Saudi Arabia, and whoever the Yank was that got Metcalfe) that seemed nearly identical to this situation. In honesty, looking at it again, I think it's more the ankle bit that gives the red card than the rake across the back of the calf.
these refs are fucking up the knockout rounds with these terrible decisions.
that is not a red card, pure accident, he wasn't even looking at the player.
Was the net pulled down?Say it with me:
The most dangerous lead…
It was as clear a red as you could ever see. He nearly snapped the guy’s ankle in half with his studs. Since when is that kind of contact not reckless and dangerous?these refs are fucking up the knockout rounds with these terrible decisions.

The red card was as stonewall as it gets. I really can’t believe there’s any controversy about it. I thought it was just the idiot Americans questioning it.Ok time to put my eyes to the 3 main things to discuss today:
- England non-penalty: Correct decision. Someone said it earlier explaining the feet giving it away. But, I'll have a little bit more to say on this because...
- Belgium penalty: Wrong decision, I honestly can't even see the proper contact in that. In saying that - as this was given by VAR, I'm now surprised the England one wasn't given earlier.

There doesn’t have to be intent. It just needs to be reckless and dangerous, and Balogun’s action was both. It’s a red every day of the week.Terrible decision based on whats been let go throughout the tournament. Clearly no intent he isnt even looking at the player, pure accident that looks horrible on slow mo.
Balogun suspended makss Belgium favourites for next round imo, he was in sensational form huge threat.
Belgium should get the job done over the United States given the quality of their playing list as well as the fact that Folarin Balogun will be serving his suspension in their round of 16 game.Someone needs to humble the Seppos. Allez les Diables rouges !

Messi definitely should have been a red and this one was worse. He raked his studs on the player’s leg before landing full force on his ankle. It’s crazy there’s any discussion about it. That was as dangerous as it gets. You can’t allow leg-breaking contact like that. It’s insane. If thats a red we should have seen a further 5-6 reds through out the tournament including Messi. Yet that was the 1st red since the opening day of the world cup i think. Completely inconsistent
