Expansion Thread 🪜

So many simple things that if with slightest thought couldve/shouldve been done differently and wouldve helped the game!

Although i agree with you in pronciple when it started id argue that its too late for that now! If the championship sides are smart they will fill that void as a means of promotion.

The problem with the training nights now is the movement of the season from August to October. The clubs of course want to see the kids during the week coming to the games on the weekend. I know my son's team would often have 5 or 6 kids going to the games after first seeing the ALM team at training. He played for Gosford City Dragons. I doubt the more distant clubs from Gosford like Gwandalan would have quite as many - but it was very effective getting the young kids in and dragging their parents along. The Mariners are very much a family based crowd.

TBF, from reports, CCM are probably leading the way on community outreach.

You are the bitter one, all because Australia rejected your NSL. You need to let it go.

Remind me, how did pro/rel go in the NSL again?
Hahahaha.... Yeahhhh you caught me, Im bitter for the NSL.. thats what it was always about, the last 20 years, bringing it back... i even printed the tshirts! Wanna subscribe?

Veering towards reality now, my supporter credential are evident via my unwavered support for MY club both in the top tier and at lower leagues,........can you claim anything remotely close?
Let me guess, they read something like this: a subscriber to the concept of Sheila's, wogs and poofters until you became a comet supporter when they were finally cleansed from the game, happy to became nothing more than a seat number of a franchise but who will dissapear back to rugby in a heart beat at the first inkling of failure!

Couldnt get any close could I?? hahahaha

You couldn’t be more wrong, supported Rangers for sixty years in both the top and bottom leagues. So hahaha fuck all.

In the NSL I supported Sydney city until Mr Lowy folded them. Then I tried Northern spirit, but playing at North Sydney oval was very trying, and then they folded as well.

Need to know anymore ?

Ps: I also have season passes to the Rugby league as well.

Your gripe should be with 'Mr' Lowy.....

Some of us will always remain One life, One team, One love!

I’d rather have a South or a Preston in the aleague who already have the foundations in place over a team that doesn’t exist that would need to start from scratch.

This where the leadership at APL becomes very important.
I agree totally, however new clubs can do well like WSW and Auckland -however the waters where tested first with a few games being played in parramatta and Wellington playing in Auckland where they got 20k plus crowds. Auckland where screaming out to have there own club and so where the western Sydney mob. However no one was asking for a Campbelltown team let alone WU and i cant recall any games being played around there locations doing any good with crowds.
Then you have a club like Sth Melb that has rich culture and history in Aus football and a establish fan base and a stadium that is ran by decent owners.

South fans despise the Albert Park Trust that run our ground.

We believe they treat us like second class citizens.

This would change, I suppose, if we were playing in a higher division.

I'm guessing the pause on expansion is due to the austerity measures, and APL knows that no one will purchase a licence if the distributions are garbage.Probably waiting for the new broadcast deal to see what return is on offer. If it's a good deal and they don't have grand ideas for burning through the cash, then I think we'll get the green light for expansion again pretty quickly after the deal is announced.

Not entirely true. Can't speak on Campbelltown, but there has always been a demand for a 2nd Melbourne team. Heart was half arsed and CFG brought too much unwanted baggage, so then many people still wanted another option other than Victory. If, from the beginning, WU had a ground like Macarthur, I reckon they would be in a very different position today. Plenty of people were keen to get on board with WU, but without progress on the promised shover-ready stadium, it was never going to happen.
