Commonwealth Games

Only once ever (1958)
EDIT: Dunno where you got your intel from, but upon research I found it wasn’t in that edition - not has it or any other format of ⚽️ ever been.

Having said that, from the 2030 edition onwards I think it’s fair to say the likelihood of it finally being included in the Games will be the greatest it’s ever been if this blurb’s anything to go by:

“In October 2021, the CGF announced a new games-roadmap that will, starting with the 2030 Commonwealth Games, change the requirements for sports competed at the Games. The roadmap suggests that between 15 and 17 sports should be competed at each edition. There will be a new category of "Compulsory Sports", containing just athletics and swimming, as well as their para-sport counterparts. The category of "Core Sports" will cease to exist, and all other sports will have the same status; however, each host will have complete freedom to choose the program for their edition from a previously assembled list, as long as the maximum number of 17 sports is not exceeded. If necessary, the hosts could suggest the addition of other sports that respect local demands"

Why shocked @HonestSpursFan. You were not aware of this. Yep, before Nine gave us live coverage of our major swim championships, Gina did.
for some its the tall poppy syndrome and today her support of Hanson that turn some off.
Sometimes you got to put aside politics wealth etc and just acknowledge her backing towards some of our sports and tbh idgaf what she does with her coin its hers.
Like she doesn't have to eh, you'd think she could stump more but better than none the way I see it.
Wonder why Twiggy the Pratts and others don't dip into their deep pockets.

Multi million buck sponsorship of my Dragons. He also has a private investment company with his ex that specialise in saving faltering Aussie companies from falling into greedy foreign hands...

Yeah but I didn’t really think she cared about that stuff anymore. I thought she was just bankrolling One Nation by giving Hanson a private plane.
Btw I expect you are tickled pink your Spurs are in Gods country and will play Sydney FC. Any other games.
I’ll be at the Chelsea game and the All Stars game!!! Couldn’t make the Sydney FC game unfortunately, but I’ll be watching it!

Blunder from Gemini when I double-checked.

GH has been supporting sports for 30yrs and ongoing.
She's been behind swimming/volley ball/rowing for ages but Ai will tell you that HSF for you use it too much pretty obvious :)

Richie, I didn't know Pratt was backing those fledging dragons - spouse they keep needing that lift :)
His $ would be more valuable towards the games lol :)

I assume you mean GR, as in Gina Rinehart (not Gina Hartrine)?

To be fair while she was funding swimming in WA since 1992, she only started funding it nationally in 2012 (which I knew about and knew she still did to an extent, I just didn’t think she still cared enough to actually pay the swimmers extra money). In 2012 I was 14.

yer typo thanks. GRinehart.
Not wanting to derail the thread last time.
There has been background $ not publicised, WA support due to the many mining projects before '12.
Obviously keeping the peace.
2012 was London games funding actually.
Then Order of Merit 2014 when you were 16 :)
Olympic Paris and Para games nothing to be sniffed at.
Least she's contributing.

You having a loan mate. Twiggy's Fortescue Mining.

Gina did the same salvage job as Twiggy when her mining company gazumped Commie China from buying a controlling stake in massive Australian agricultural company S Kidman & Co several years ago. Her company also added to her property portfolio in '23 when she rescued the struggling but iconic outdoor apparel maker Driza-Bone from going bust or falling into foreign hands. She and Andrew Forrest are two great Australians.

Comm games football should happen with it being U23 and semi pro to lower tier pro so you'd get a decent batch of EFL players, A League and even some African and Caribbean domestic players.

From memory our male backstroke and medley has been shit for ages while our women's breaststroke is a burden in relays.

Not any more with the emergence of Sienna Toohey, 17, who has broken Leisel Jones age records and recently swam just shy of her Aussie 100m record. Their is depth too with Olympia Pope and Isabelle Rae making big strides in the event.

That name rings a bell that she'd made waves at a previous meet. Hopefully now our women's medley can win Olympic gold.
